Sometimes they don't even know what is being taught, so I'm going to say 'likely, no.'
What if the person giving the cupcake lesson is the Bishop? As far as a young woman is concerned, that lesson was sanctioned by the Lord.
A Bishop ought to know better, and it is unfortunate when this sort of ting happens. I don't restrict that to the "cupcake" lesson, I include any of these lame pseudo-doctrines. The correlation manual "No Greater Call" counsels that teachers stick to the lessons, and these little object lessons, fortunately, aren't found therein, else you'd all love to point that out, as well.
Saying the teacher screwed up is a cop-out because the students, particularly young people, believe what is being taught is gospel doctrine.
Certainly some people are unfortunate enough to never develop critical thinking skills strong enough to smell bull crap when it hits their nostrils, and that is unfortunate. It is hoped that as people search for knowledge they will conclude the cupcake lesson is nonsense. For example: KA made this realization.
Don't say "Well, that's not doctrine." because if it is being taught as part of an official church activity by a person set apart by Priesthood authority to teach, it is doctrine.
You're right, it is doctrine. False doctrine.

I wish so badly I could be present to see the cupcake analogy in person, because I would take the licked cupcake, wipe off the licked part, and then say "looks fine to me, no problem! Too bad this analogy sucks."

Hi Scottie,
The teaching at that time was that it was better for a woman to die than to be raped.
Yes this was taught.
And, yes this was the practice for clear, official rape, at least in some cases of which I am aware. These men KNEW it was rape but felt it was what was needed ... the court of love and all that. Xing these girls was the way they could become clean again.
Thankfully as I have stated I do not hear of this anymore.

Hey, Loap, I hope you didn't think I was attacking you. I didn't mean to?
Whew, maybe I should take a break from the boards.
No, don't take a break, monkeys. From what I can tell you're finally getting warmed up.

I would be interested in any evidence of a rape victim being excommunicated because he/she was raped.

I know someone who was disfellowshipped for being raped. The rapist (a ward member) insisted it was consensual, so she was disfellowshipped.
