AOaP, why don't you go to MAD and post that the object lessons are obviously more widespread than you originally thought? That's the only honest thing to do.

Also, what's your response to the link Zoidberg posted from Deseret books?

There remain dense folks like Kate over on MAD declaring that the lessons aren't widely known by LDS, and that's simply not true. Whether or not you feel the church sanctions such lessons, they're still in use all over the country. Be upstanding and honest and go tell your buddies on MAD. Don't say one thing here and another there, or concede error here whilst maintaining your position on MAD. It's disingenuous.

....nay a twelvesome. LMBO!!

I feel so badly for women who carry their shame around through life. For me being single was so long ago and I'm a whole different person now as a mother. I have two friends (one a local friend, one a BYU roommate of mine) who have commented in the past year how ashamed they still are about this issue. The local friend had heavily petted with a boyfriend. She commented that sometimes the shame is so much that she is not able to be intimate with her husband. And this was 20 years ago! The BYU roommate did have sex with her husband before they were married. They married civily and then were sealed a year later. She experienced some infertility and confided that she was being punished for her immorality. My own sister had sex with a boyfriend in high school. How do I know this? She'd gone and repented, they had broken up, she was over a year later dating the man who would become her husband and the Bishop went to my parents, broke her confidence and said - hey, your daughter has had sex and now she's dating again and you should be aware. My dad completely lost it. He had no idea (my dad was in the Stake Presidency at the time.

Licked cupcake indeed. Very, very seriously the lessons should be aimed at the Lord knowing our sins no more. NO MORE - if that is indeed what the church teaches. This was not my personal understanding of the atonement as an active member and is obviously not the understanding of those I've mentioned here. I don't know that one really ever is absolved of sexual sin in the church. This is not my understanding based on my own experiences. Missionaries that are not able to serve if they've had sex, having to confess one's sins to more than one Bishop along the way and so forth. It's not good enough to talk repentance if you don't show it as well.
Insert ironic quote from fellow board member here.

I thought I did. I'll make sure to satisfy your desire by quoting you verbatim for good measure.

Don't get me started on Mormon kitche from DB.

Again, I thought I made my position clear there.

Why don't you post it on MAD? I'm sure many people there are fond of that kitche and would find it more authoritative than individual posters' opinions. I'd do it, but I'm banned, as you very well know.

I very well didn't remember you got banned, but now methinks you were the one with the Daria avatar?! Hi! I liked you there for what it's worth. Anything else you guys want me to post on MAD so I can join the cool kids club?

Yep, that was me. Remember how you chimed in about me being disrespectful? But I forgive you since you wanted me back. :)

Are you saying you were never being disrespectful? ;)

If I recall correctly I was throwing in against both sides of the issue.

I dunno, is historical accuracy about women's roles in ancient Jewish culture disrespectful? If so, guilty as charged.

I'm sure many people find KA disrespectful, as well, for sharing her experiences accurately. Oh yeah, and Alter Idem is currently getting a whipping from juliann which she does not deserve in the slightest, for daring to have different experiences as a divorced woman than juliann did.

Not without some dissent, though.

You like being a moderate dissenter, don't you? Both here and there.

You are alright, LOAP. I solemnly swear never to resort to calling you Ass On a Plate. :)
