I too think the TBM is less than accurate. I think CCM (Card Carrying Mormon) or even TM (Temple Mormon) would be better.
I LIKE THIS!
I didn't realize believing members considered the title, "true believing members" as condescending or hurtful until recently... but since it seems to be the case, I'm suggesting we release the TBM thing and move to either CCM or a TM neither of which see offensive.
But then again, since I don't think TBM is offensive maybe it wouldn't help?
Anyway... I like Mocnarf's idea!

Isn't "saint" a label?

Sorry guys, but I'm going to keep saying TBM. When I say it I'm thinking of my parents and seven brothers and sisters, as well as my hundred or so cousins, aunts, uncles, and my 97 year old grandmother, who are all intelligent, thoughtful, totally believing Mormons (as far as I can tell). It's not an insult. Not when I say it.

As far as I'm concerned, I don't mind TBM.
By the way, are you the only black sheep in the family? You incorrigible rebel, you.
I agree with Dude. I don't think of TBM as an insult when I use it, either. I've an extended family full of fine TBM's, and even though they drive me crazy sometimes, I still love them.
TBM is no more innately offensive than card-carrying Mormon or temple Mormon or whatever, and if we did choose a new acronym because someone didn't like TBM pretty soon CCM or TM would be considered offensive and we'd have to start all over again. TBM is something that carries over and is understood on just about any and all of the Mormon-related forums and such, and there's a lot of value in maintaining it. It's just like someone trying to re-invent LOL or ROFL or OMG or something.
Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen
