Was that some sort of show of power? Did you just show it to them with a simple nod or tip of your hat?

You are a dweeb.

Hey, I was caught unprepared. I wanted to let them know they were street contacting a Mormon without saying I was already a member. I hadn't thought of all the fun things I could say to pull them for a ride.

Rest assured, next time I will be prepared. I'll ask them about polygamy, spirit color-vision, the strangeness of the atonement, and maybe even throw in Zelph for good measure.
That's General Leo. He could be my friend if he weren't my enemy.

I know, but c'mon! You show them your temple recommend.... I just, its just, lame!

"Hi we are from the church of cheese and rice and rattly snakes and we would like to share a message about..."

And you just flip out the wallet like some police detective and it falls open to reveal your recommend..

Oh, I agree that my past behavior in that was disappointing. So while I join you in being embarassed for my past self, I have repented and am prepared for the next encounter.

heh... Guess its a lil different here in good ole Kentucky (the lowest tax on tobacco in the US, now). We all are familiar with the program, even if you are not a missionary. I went through this program when I joined the church, and it worked for me. If you have any questions, I am all ears.

Yeah but you still watch porn, cuss, and drink beer. ;)

Seriously, all you did was pray to sweet Jesus and your craving went away?

No, we don't watch porn, yes I do drink beer, and yes I f***ing cuss, damnit.

However, back to the lecture at hand, no I didn't just have to pray to Jesus and my craving went away. The craving was still there. The program worked on attacking the conditioned response to stimuli by eliminating or changing the stimuli. For instance, I desired cigs after eating, while driving, and before going to sleep. So, we changed these stimuli so that my response could be different. Think of Pavlov's dogs; its the same idea, and it WORKED. Praying, yeah, it helped, all the support I was getting helped A LOT, but most of all was to just break it down to the stimulus-response idea. Working at it from that helped me to get over the week long battle, and after that, it was just simple willpower.

I've been smoking just slightly over 2 months now and really need to stop! I smoked when I was younger and it's amazing to me how easy it was to pick it back up.

I was INCREDIBLY stressed and just craving a cigarette, went and bought a pack, and unfortunately been smoking since.

But I'm still stressed. I suppose it's better than drinking.

I'd make a great Mormon.

I don't drink, don't smoke, don't smoke dope or take any drugs that aren't prescribed (by a doctor), not having any premarital sex (right now), don't drink coffee, do exercise. Just don't buy the bull I guess.

Hee. At what point do we realize that we collectively suck and are pathetic?
