A question about the new & improved Book of Mormon introduction

Post by _Dr. Shades »

We all know it's official that the Book of Mormon introduction will now say "among the ancestors" as opposed to the infamous "principal ancestors."

So, when will this change take place? What print run will see the new and improved version--a print run sometime in 2008? 2010? When?

Also, when did--or when will--the Doubleday version make the change?

If anyone knows the answer to this, I'd be greatly obliged.

Now, will someone with a sock-puppet at MA&D please go over there and make a post stating that the idea that the Lamanites are the principal ancestors of the American Indians is nothing more than an anti-Mormon lie? I'm begging you!

(A respectful nod to SatanWasSetUp for that last part)

Thanks in advance.

Here is some information:

The change was made in the second edition published by Doubleday, a hard-cover book that eliminates the footnotes Latter-day Saints see in their church-published books. The Doubleday edition is designed to be "reader-friendly" for non-Latter-day Saints who encounter the book for the first time.

The "principal ancestors" phrase was not in the original edition:

It was added in the 1981 edition.

On postmormon, some posters assert that this change was really made a year ago, it just now came into the news. I don't know, firsthand.
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

You mean we had a whole extra year of Charity leacturing us about geneology and the proper definition of "principal" -- for nothing?!?!?

It was changed in the October 2006 Doubleday printing, but only made the news this month. It has not yet been changed in any LDS printings.
The road is beautiful, treacherous, and full of twists and turns.
