Dude, my comment wondering about an explanation the author did not straigten out was not about why a person might reject Behe thesis, I am familiar with some reasons for that. Instead I was puzzled by what testimony was being referred to in the context of Behes nonparticipation. You see I had this bit of curiosity whether Behe was acually supporting a move to insist that some intelligent design theory be a part of public school curriculem. I would be repulsed if he was. But in fact I do not know if he is.
I think Behe book may have some limited value in a religous context. Even there I have reservations about it. My view is that Gods creative intionality starts at the most fundamental forms of matter and energy, so life flowing from natural combinations in the right enviromental context would be expectable. I do not see a requirement for special redesigning efforts on Gods part. On the other hand I do not see any reason to think that special redesigning moments impossible even if moments would be utterly impossible to demonstrate. Well that last phrase, impossible to demonstrate takes the question out of the sciience class.

I see. Well, I expect the program on Tuesday will clarify how far his support went.
...just an expert wittness for the creationists? I doubt it. I could be wrong.

I switched to DirecTV from cable a few months ago, and ever since then, I don't know where anything is. Anyone with DirecTV know how to watch this show?
ps: Will it be in HD? I just "upgraded" my 32" LCD with a 52" LCD from Costco two weeks ago (utilizing their used-to-be unlimited return policy to get a full refund on the 32" after owning it for two years) after discovering that the 32" had an HDMI input that wasn't compatible with the HDMI output of my new HD-DVD player. I just love watching HD stuff on this new monster screen.

Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen

I regret that I still have rabbit ears for my TV viewing (I seldom watch TV). However, I do have a good internet connection. The PBS site will apparently have this available online on Nov 16 at thislink.
I'll be crossing my fingers (and maybe rabbit ears) in hopes of getting a peak tonight.

PBS should be the same channel on DirectTV (at least it is for me) as it is for regular broadcast (i.e. the good ole antenna). They usually broadcast it in HD, but I think with Satellite you have to subscribe to the HD channel.

I just finished watching the NOVA program. It was amazing. It should be required viewing for anyone who is interested in the Intelligent Design debate. Kenneth Miller (author of Finding Darwin's God) was great. His mousetrap/tie clip example of the absurdity of Behe's irreducible complexity argument was perfect. Behe came across as a fool, especially considering he declined to be interviewed for the program. The Discovery Institute is a joke. Some of the trial re-enactments were a little cheesy, but that's my only gripe. Essential viewing. I'm going to order a copy of the DVD.
