Congratulations to SETHBAG for achieving godhood!
Dear participants:
On Thursday November 15, 2007 at exactly 4:57 p.m. Mountain Standard Time our very own SETHBAG worked out his salvation (after all that he could do) and was crowned with his mantle of exaltation, yea, even godhood!
CONGRATULATIONS, Sethbag!
I don't know about y'all, but Sethbag always impresses the heck out of me with his posts. He has a way of trimming the fat and getting to the heart of any issue. He also has a gift for clearly and succinctly making his point.
If anyone has anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy to say about Sethbag, now is the time and here is the place to say it.
Well, Sethbag? SPEECH! SPEECH!

GRATS Seth!!
You have long since been one of my favorite posters. I only hope that one day my posts can be 1/100th as eloquent and succinct as yours are.

ROFL, I don't know where you guys are getting the "succinct" from - you apparently haven't read many of my "wall of text" posts.
As for the speech, well here goes:
I'd like to thank Joseph Smith, for giving us all so much stuff to talk about here on MDB. I'd like to thank Fanny Alger, for having surrendered her virtue to a conman and a spiritual fraud in such a way that we're still talking about it over 170 years later. I'd like to thank Martin Harris for being stupid enough to actually sacrifice his wealth and farm and whatnot to get the Book of Mormon printed, so that we can argue about it to this very day. I'd like to thank all the saints who gathered together their money to buy some Egyptian mummies and the papyrus that came with them from Michael Chandler, ultimately giving us the Book of Abraham farce that we have today, and the many enjoyable conversations we get to have on that subject. I'd like to thank the Freemasons for coming up with the cultish penalties, signs, and tokens that I had the privilege of invoking upon myself in 1988 in the Washington, DC temple, thanks to Master Mason Joseph Smith being "inspired" to rip them off and include them in the LDS endowment.
I'd like to thank the Mighty Scholars at FARMS for helping push me over to the Dark Side by their innane, overtly partisan, and ultimately unconvincing reviews and apologetic tripe. It would not be an exaggeration to say that it was the FARMS and Hugh Nibley response to so many of the historical problems, as much as the problems themselves, which ultimately made clear to me the fact that the LDS church was on the losing side of these arguments. Nothing says desperate, last-ditch, hold onto the faithful at all costs, intellectually dishonest mental gymnastics defense of the indefensible like a good FARMS review or apologetic article. This realization actually helped tip me over the threshold from being on the side where I could continue finding ways of defending against the bad history, to the side where I gave up such defense, and the opposing view began to take hold.
Most of all, I'd like to thank you guys for the good times I've got to share in here on this board. Keep it up!

Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen

Congrats Sethbag!
Dear Dr. Shades,
I must continue to protest the living conditions at Shady Acres. Things were bad when it was just a few of us, yet you continue this, this...blashemous housing arrangement. I mean seriously, you put all the hotties in a newly built house and didn't install any close circuited cameras. WTF? You promised man. Christmas isn't coming this year.....sigh. And don't get me started on the Goddess Suite. Cotton sheets? That's bush league man, you know we prefer silk sheets....my ass is totally chafed. And can we get some paint on the walls por favor? Liz's whip has cut down to the insulation in every room. Finally I once again must lodge a complaint against Mister Snore...I mean Scratch. Seriously....can't we get some nausal strips or something?

Congrats, Seth! I guess we'll be seeing less of you now, what with you having to make all those spirit babies and all. But, if we are righteous, hopefully, you will continue to grace us with your awesome presence and reveal eternal truth to us with your posts.

I don't know if I'd classify you as a Phil Spector poster. I think you're a bit more George Martin than you realize.
I think I even read a quadraphonic post from you once.
