I've lived through all those things. Course, they weren't happening to me personally, but I had to endure the women they actually were happening to. I think that should count.

Actually I would. My father's partner is a lawyer who deals with family law. From time to time he's asked to give women tricks on getting the deadbeat fathers to pay up. I was actually surprised at how big a problem it is. Amazingly enough I sympathize with the women on this one. Why? Because even if the father deserves equal visitations and even if I hate inequality in child-support, I think it's unfair for the kids not to have that support. I was pleased to learn that the church won't give temple recommends to fathers who do not pay their legally obligated child support and alimony.

As for women not getting paid as much as men, I also sympathize. There is no good reason for this. I hear theories that it may be due to differences in perception. An agressive man is seen as an asset and paid more. An agressive woman is seen as dangerous. Yes, it sucks to be a woman for those reasons. I also wish more women would be interested in engineering, mathematics, and science. Trying to get girls interested in that seems difficult.

That I dislike some of the unfair things happening to men does not mean I have no sympathy for the greater number of injustices women face (or from what I hear, what with more women being abused, etc.).

In practice, the wife gets full custody and then man gets stuck with alimony, child support, and visitations every other weekend. So basically, the man's only vote is whether or not he will do what his wife wants. It sucks to be a man.

Quit your whining.

Women are still, on average paid less than men for similar work.

Also, as far as the custody issue goes, I work with indigent women on a daily basis in the work-study teaching program I organized at the college. You would not believe some of the gymnastics these deadbeat fathers go through to avoid paying child support.

If you play, you better be prepared to pay, gentlemen.

It sucks to be a man?

Liz I think the concern is that they play and then want to continue to pay but the woman can then cut off his play rights and he still has to pay.

My mom dug her finger nails indo my dad's hand while she was birthing one of my brothers. My dad afterwards said that he felt like he was being crucified. My mom probably felt like that was a walk in the park in comparison to what she was feeling.

Anyhow, I don't know why pain buys you rights. If a veteran is tortured in war for our country, does he finally earn fair treatment in the law since he suffered more than childbirth and menopause? Didn't think so.

More seriously, I don't know why pain buys you rights. If a veteran is tortured in war for our country, does he finally earn fair treatment in the law since he suffered more than childbirth and menopause? Didn't think so.

I approve of this pain buying you rights thing. I get kidney stones. I deserve stuff. Feel free to contribute to my Paypal account.

I'm glad you feel this way. My point was that in two recent threads you have belly ached about how unfair it is to be a man.

Women, as you, yourself admit, have had it just as tough, if not tougher, in some cases.

I think we should all break into a chorus of "It Sucks to be Me" from "Avenue Q".
