I don't think of it as dishonest. No more dishonest than the Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil tour that I took in Savannah, Ga or the ghost tours I've taken locally.

Consider how much money these people have already paid out in tithing to the church.

Caveat emptor.

Mish is right.

What's the big deal? What we have here is a Book of Mormon Tour Company that I am sure pays tithing, taking good honest money from most likely good honest Mormon tithe payers. What's the harm?

The only thing that could be better is if the Tour Company could take a lot of money off of the infidels and then pay tithing on that.

People have been leading pilgrimages for a long time. Would this be so different from taking a tour of Graceland, hoping to be close to the King himself?

I am glad to see there are some cool heads here. I will remember who you are.

The rest of you jumping on the "dishonesty" bandwagon, well, I will remember who you are, too.

I'm trying to decide which is preferable, Ray: your violent, sociopathic "rager" posts, or your completely substance-free "look what a rube I am!" posts. Your lack of maturity is quite striking, mate.

Scratch is not a rube. He is a poseur and a provocateur, as I've always maintained. The Internet is an Elysian Field for people like this.

I just got off the Bat Phone with Karl Rove and he will be contacting some Neocon friends of mine in the Langley, Virginia area who will be alerting the SCMC shortly as to what has been said here.

Be afraid...be VERY afraid.

I think that businesses meant to profit from selling Church related material are bad.

That said, I think these tours are in as bad taste as the stupid movies that have been coming out.

I suggest you take names.

When taking tours in MesoAmerica one is at the mercy of the tour guide anyway. I've been on a couple and have another planned in Feb to Chichen Itza. Unless a person can really educate themselves before-hand you are always at the mercy of whatever tour guide you might get. I remember a bus ride back from Tulum in which we were subjected to a rant on Mayan Biological Warfare, for instance. I still don't know if the guy was telling the truth and I don't care about it enough to research.

Wherever you go - there's a tour for it. If that's how you want to spend your money, spend your money. I will be spending mine scuba diving, drinking and running from over-zealous shop owners.

I hope you're not referring to me, I'm a hot "potato" head.
