You don't.

Down for the count.

Quit being an ass. She's hardly "down for the count" if you read her well-worded response.

Also...KA, don't you have family who is still Mormon? It's pretty hard to ignore a religion that so fully encompasses your family.

While I don't hold the church to be a bastian of humility, I don't think this charge is exactly accurate either. I think it would be more accurate to say "some" Mormons have an overinflated sense of self-importance, particularly our leaders from the Top 15 to some of our bishops. The church as a whole doesn't. I know many humble Saints. I'm sure there are many more than I know out there. The whole one-true-church, special-representatives, only-authority-on-earth, chosen-people nonsense can be gagging though, so I understand what KA is saying.

My sense of self-importantance isn't inflated; it is self-evident.
One moment in annihilation's waste,
one moment, of the well of life to taste-
The stars are setting and the caravan
starts for the dawn of nothing; Oh, make haste!

Can't argue there.

Question to both of you......Your sense of self-importance as a Mormon or as a human being? Or do you distinguish between the two?

For me, neither. Mine comes from being a son of the Living God.

Something neither of us denies anyone else. Except women. they would be "daughters," rather than "sons."

It's science, though.

You're a god according to Mormon doctrine. A cute little god-in-training, full of divinity. This really appeals to people who have an ounce of ambition in their body. Godly ambition, godly guilt (when one falls short of their goals), godly arrogance if one needs to amp up their self esteem.

Anyone who has been through the temple has been informed of their god/goddesshood. There is really no amount of humility that erases the fact these people assume they are going to be gods in the next life if they live according to their belief system.
