This is what archeologists do.

JERUSALEM - A wall mentioned in the Bible's Book of Nehemiah and long sought by archaeologists apparently has been found, an Israeli archaeologist says.

The findings suggest that the structure was actually part of the same city wall the Bible says Nehemiah rebuilt, Mazar said. The Book of Nehemiah gives a detailed description of construction of the walls, destroyed earlier by the Babylonians.

"We were amazed," she said, noting that the discovery was made at a time when many scholars argued that the wall did not exist. "This was a great surprise. It was something we didn't plan," Mazar said.

However, another scholar disputed the significance of the discovery.

Does this sound at all familiar.

Yeah, more anti-mormon garbage. This stuff's popping up all over the place.
WK: "Joseph Smith asserted that the Book of Mormon peoples were the original inhabitants of the americas"
Will Schryver: "No, he didn’t." 3/19/08
Still waiting for Will to back this up...

I'll take familiar sounds for 200$ Alex.

Does the above give you hope that there will be Book of Mormon discoveries in the future?

Let me get this straight. From now on, if any archeologist - anywhere - discovers anything, that's good news for the Book of Mormon because it proves that all the discovering has not yet been done? So maybe, because archeologists found a bit of wall in Jerusalem, there's still evidence to show for a major American civilization of millions of people?

Yeah, now I see it. You're right. I'll get back to my bishop ASAP and start the repentance process. Now, where did I stash those garments again?

Forgive me if this is a naïve question, are they still doing Book of Mormon archeology? I would appreciate a response.

It depends on what you mean by "they"...

If you mean non-Mormon archaeologists, well, no, they aren't. The reason? Simple! If they actually found something that correlated to the Book of Mormon's truthfulness, they would have no choice but to accept that Joseph Smith was a true prophet.

Since they don't want to take that chance, they completely ignore the book. Even though there is a myriad of knowledge to be gained from it.

I'm not sure about LDS and FAIR.

Does it really matter? I mean, is anyone still doing Book of Mormon archeology? Or is it just pure apologetics nowadays?

This is what apologists do:

On blind faith accept the wild and entirely baseless assetions concocted by the deranged and frenzied minds of opportunists and sex predators self-styled as prophets and holy men, and then reason that if something somewhat unlikely is ever proven true by science, then the math has already been done for their own beliefs which are a few hundred orders of magnitude more improbable and all that's left to do is sit back, believe, and wait, while smiling knowingly (and ignorantly).
Lou Midgley 08/20/2020: "...meat wad," and "cockroach" are pithy descriptions of human beings used by gemli? They were not fashioned by Professor Peterson.

LM 11/23/2018: one can explain away the soul of human beings...as...a Meat Unit, to use Professor Peterson's clever derogatory description of gemli's ideology.
