This is what archeologists do.

Still working hard at maintaining your crown as the Queen of Strawmen argument, heh, charity?
This is one of the most blatant strawmen ever devised by MADdites. According to MADdites, critics say "all the discovery has been done", so whenever any new discovery, anywhere, is found, it is trumpeted by MADdites as proof of their rightness.
Honestly, it's like some apologists deliberately don't digest what any critic ever says, in order to better be able to fabricate a complete strawman.

We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

that's as if one would ask if "they" are still doing Atlantean archaeology.

All I have seen here is kneejerk reactions.
Think about it.
How long has archeological research been going on in the Holy Lands? Are they still finding new things? Obviously. Are those new finds disputes? Yes. How long has archeological research been going on in Meso-America? Not nearly as long. Can they be new discoveries? Obviously. Will they be disputed? Probably.
It is not a strawman argument to make a comparison. When the anti-Mormon crowd stops saying "There isn't any evidence of Nephites and we have been doing archeological digs for a hundred years and nothing has shown up" then I will stop posting when archeologists are "surprised" at new evidence.

This is great. There is still hope that "they" will find a lightsaber on the moon. Think about it. They're still discovering stuff in the Holy Lands after milions of years digging. We've only been exploring space for what, 30 years? Space is such a huge area, and we have explored such a small percentage of it, obviously evidence of Star Wars will be forthcoming.

There isn't any evidence of Nephites, charity. None. Does that necessarily mean that none will ever be found? Nope. What I'm objecting to is your straw man that we think everything to be discovered already has been discovered. Who are these phantom critics making this argument?

There is a HUGE difference between searching out Biblical artifacts and looking for Book of Mormon artifacts. The Bible is a compilation of ancient documents. There is no dispute here. The translations have been generally agreed upon, with a few dicrepencies here and there. The Bible is a mixture of real history with myth, written down many centuries ago. There should be no real surprise if some city or structure that was thought to be myth in the Bible turns out to be real.
The Book of Mormon, on the other hand, is considered fiction by almost everyone. It is as fictional as the Lord of the Rings to non-Mormons. Nobody outside of the Mormon church expects evidence to come forth supporting a work of fiction. But you can hold out hope, and if archeologists one day clear out some brush and discover a long lost city filled with all manner of steel swords, and chariots, and horse bones, and christian churches dotting the land, and massively epic battlefields filled with dead white guys, it will be a revolutionary find. And you can come here and say "I told you so."

This made me LOL. Everybody knows the moon is populated by very tall quakers. No lightsabers there.

Isn't the argument that nothing has been found, so Nephites are a myth saying the same thing?
