As a sidenote, I'm guessing that an avowed atheist would have a harder time getting elected than a Mormon. Agree or disagree?

Obviously, voting for an atheist would be literal voter suicide. An atheist president would first invade all foreign countries and then turn the guns on American citizens.

omg!! I can't imagine the horror of an atheist President. He or she would push the button and there would be global thermonuclear warfare just because nobody would be holding him/her accountable in the next life!

The problem with what you say above is it is not just people who are Huckabee's religion that are giving him a pass. It is everyone. Even liberal media types are beating up on Romney but not Huckabee.

Yea I think given the political temperature and the attempts by all candidates to appear somewhat godly and pious, even if they are not, that and atheist would never get elected. Even tougher then it would be for a Mormon. And I still think the current Mormon running has a chance at winning it all.

As I said elsewhere, any Christian who opposes Romney on theological grounds gets no sympathy from me. Sheer idiocy.

I oppose Mitt on theological grounds; your sympathy is irrelevant.

I never supposed that my disdain would keep you from thinking stupidly.

Yes CC we already know you are religiously bigoted against Mormons.
