bigotry against Huckabee from the evolution believers

I thought this was interesting, in light of the complaint by Jason Bourne that Romney was hogging all the bigotry and not sharing any of it with Mike Huckabee, a baptist preacher and former Arkansas governor.

Well apparently Huckabee's getting some of his fair share of bigotry too. Some of those radical science believers seem to oppose him on the grounds that he doesn't believe in the "theory" of evolution. Apparently these people hold the bigoted and hate-mongering mindset that the President of the United States ought to be able to use sound judgment and critical thinking, and that rejecting evolution in favor of Biblical creation mythology simply isn't enough for them.

Boo! Down with the bigoted hate mongers! Abolish religious bigotry and give the Bronze Age Goatherder Mythology believers their fair shake at a chance to hold their fingers over the Nuclear Button!

I heard that Giuliani prefers speleothems over dendrochronology. He also thinks the Libby half-life is more accurate than the Cambridge half-life (just because most still use the Lhl out of convenience).

Huckabee believes in ID, huh? Well that's a deal breaker for me, because he's probably being totally honest when he says he finds ID more compelling. At least with Romney I have a reasonable hunch that he's actually an atheist-agnostic, only posturing as a religionist (a pseudo EV-Mormon) for the sake of electability.

Interesting hunch. I had a related thought that was that Mitt Romney is someone who very much wants to run for President who happened to have been born into a Mormon family, and is just now fully realizing the implications of that. Probably he's wishing he'd been born a Kennedy. Or maybe not.

I second your hunch. I suspect Romney because 1) His ease of flip-flopping on "moral" issues (or even political parties) tells me that faith isn't really that central to him--expediency is. 2) He really downplays Mormonism--IMO so much so that I get the feeling that he doesn't really think that much about it except as a family heritage thing.

Would this still be your assessment if the earlier report was correct, and Mitt had obtained the "ok" of the brethren to be pro-choice in Mass, in order to be elected?

I can't remember her name but she's Eliza Dushku's mom so use that surname in your Google. The only reason I can remember this is that I have a colleague who knows her (and used to babysit Eliza).
