Yeah, that's the ticket. Because some idiot treats Mormons badly, you guys can feel free to be as hateful as you want.

Disgusting.

You will get no words of compassion from me. I'm glad he is dead. The Book of Mormon pretty much sums up what I think of that man. Therefore, I believe the chains of hell are his prison. If you don't like what I think - too bad. I believe the Book of Mormon and surely that man was fighting against the Church of the Lamb, even Zion. He will have his reward. Other than believing he is on the left hand of God, I really have little more to say.

The Book of Mormon has judged him, not me. So, don't anyone give me the liberal "judge not" the sinner crap. (Are we allowed to say crap in the middle kingdom?)

I don't mind people saying stuff like that. Of course you believe he did wrong in fighting the "true church," But calling him and every other critic of the church a bigot who hates Mormons is something else entirely.

That is the exchange. Now, you can look at it and make your own decision and not depend on CK's evaluation.

I can't find anywhere that Pahoran wishes him any smiting.

There may not be an explicit "wish for smiting", but the sentiment is rather nasty.

I agree with Dr. Steuss' comment over there: "I'm not sure it's very good taste to be using someone's passing to score theological points." Charity - even you got a swipe in early on about the man being surprised at "what he finds there." You likewise used the man's death to try to score your own arrogant points. Nice work!

I think it's tacky to gloat over another's death. And cold.

I don't think so. For people of good will on both boards, death like this, even of a person who might philosophically disagree, should be met with compassion. There should be no double standard. And those professing to be advancing the Gospel of Jesus Christ particularly do themselves a disservice by behaving badly in the face of death. I don't doubt there are plenty on MADB who find any response other than an empathetic one at this time to be ill considered.
The road is beautiful, treacherous, and full of twists and turns.

You mean this completely open board where we can discuss anything and not worry about being banned? You shouldn't criticize CK like that.

Rusty "Pahoran" McGregor's behavior was absolutely appalling, and your implicit approval of it is too, Charity. Boy, I sure hope the friends and family of Mr. Wilson don't read what "Pah" has been writing. He ought to be ashamed.

I was a big fan of Luke Wilson. His work in Old School....classic. (Oh not the same guy?)

From the life stories website referenced above:

It was obvious from the start that the ministry of IRR was not about Luke — was not about projecting his personality or reinforcing his reputation. Luke was the kind of guy who could give evangelical apologetics ministries a good name. Instead of badgering and blustering and using the ministry as an extended exercise in ego-enhancement, he quietly, carefully, competently built a scripturally solid, evangelistically innovative organization that justly won the respect of his colleagues in countercult research and outreach.

I'd heard the name "Luke Wilson" several times. But, honestly, I had absolutely no idea who he was until reading the threads today.

In a disheartening culture of name-brand "apologetics," evangelical "anti-Mormons" could learn a thing or two from Mr. Wilson.

IRR is a treasure trove of useful, timely, relevant information.

Post #10 of that thread was by far the most disgusting.
