Former Mormon missionary profiled on America's Most Wanted

Post by _Livingstone22 »

Jason Brown, a former Mormon missionary, was profiled tonight on America's Most Wanted. He is wanted for a Phoenix murder. Did anyone see it?

Hmm, apparently this guy has been wanted for quite a while. The murder took place in 2004, and now he is on the top 10 most wanted fugitives in America. This is also not the first time he's been profiled, but they still haven't caught him. He was married and lived in Provo for a while (maybe married in the temple?), and also lived in Sugarhouse for a while. I guess I'm just shocked that someone could be raised enough to go on a mission--then go so wrong in his life. I guess I shouldn't be surprised though. Back then (about 1990), they let just anyone go on a mission who wanted to go, and like still, cultural pressure sends them out even if they're not really into it.

Yeah, I served a mission. The pressure to go was overwhelming. I think that's why I feel like going out and killing people tonight. Makes perfect sense to me. Nah, nevermind. Too much work. But, that pressure! It's sooo overwhelming. Must...kill...people...

I heard that guy in Colorado who shot people at the church and missionary training center was kicked out of said center some years ago and now hated Christians. For some reason I picture him being kicked out for maybe having a masturbation problem or perhaps same-sex attraction? I wonder if any Mormons will go nuts like that....I sure know more than a few who are so filled with rage and hate towards the LDS church and its members because of the way they felt they've been treated.

Yeah, I feel so much rage at the Church because they won't allow me stroke my one-eyed wonder toy. You've convinced me now why the Mormons are so wrong. They deserve to be shot, just like those girls in tight skirts deserve to be raped. Hello logic!!!

Well, I think the people who commit these crimes are not acting on reason or logic--they're probably mentally ill in some way.

It is suspected the COlorado shooter posted these comments on-line before his crimes:

"Why was I told that I couldn't be a missionary because I wasn't `social enough'? I was told that I was `an introvert'. . . .Everyone else got to go on their outreaches except for a few who lied about smoking (cigarettes). The authoritarianism and hypocrisy is outrageous."

"We'll make our own religion and be our own God's instead listening to some abusive pedophile church like what I was raised in telling us who's `saved' and who's not," (The church in Colorado Springs where the shooting took place was founded by Ted Haggard)

"It's so funny how many people want to help you and love you and counsel you and `work with you through your pain' when there's money involved."

Are you intentionally discounting the pain some former LDS feel, mledbetter? Do you doubt their rage?

I'm not talking about the individual in the opening post, but any former LDS who hurts and is angry about it?

Intentionally or not, I suppose I'm discounting the cry-baby victim mentality which some people in this forum seem to feed upon. The same mentality which identifies with people who shoot up churches.

I don't doubt the rage of people who feed their rage. Practice some Yoga or something. It works! I have a testimony about yoga, and even more of a testimony about the way it makes a guy feel to see a girl practicing this fine art.

Do you consider all self-identified victims as crybabies, or do you reserve that disdain just for ex-mos?

Do you follow the idea that the church is always blameless and the self-identified victims are always to blame? or are you able to see how those self-identified victims may view the church as culpable? Are you the snake or the guy who got bitten while trying to help the snake?
