Juliann's Secret Handshakes
What's up with Juliann's "secret handshakes"? Seems like every other post she's writing on MADB these days includes a reference to them.
Isn't temple content verboten over there? Or is that somehow an exclusion?
Maybe the phrase "secret handshake" is her own secret handshake.

Hmmm...interesting...I haven't even read over there for quite a while...so I'm not sure what she's referring to. It must be some type of inside joke with the other Mods or her friends.
Maybe one of Scratch's "informants" can shed more light on the situation.

Actually, I think she latched onto it in a citation from another source (see her OP in the "Whose Coming to Dinner" thread), and can't shake it loose.

I asked them to fix the thread title (because it offended me as an editor), and they have done so. As far as I can tell, Juliann is claiming that EVs like Huckabee couch their anti-Mormonism in less-offensive "code" words so as to condemn Mormons without necessarily seeming vicious. It's this smarmy "who me?" anti-Mormonism that I believe she is referring to when she speaks of "secret handshakes" (and I totally agree that her use of this expression is simply bizarre).

You people obviously don't attend the MADB picnics where the handshake is performed as a ritual greeting between the faithful:

What is that?
Has it a name?
Will you give it to me?
Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen

We should not forget about the work of the Marx Brothers in elevating the art of the handshake, although we have some good ones too- but they are sacred and secret.
Anyone remember the signs and tokens dance from Plan 10 from Outerspace?

I want to see them do that through a veil.
I think it would be morally right to lie about your religion to edit the article favorably.

Has anyone done a study as to what Joseph Smith reportedly corrected in the Mason/Temple ceremony. It's interesting that he would become a Mason when Martin Harris called the Book of Mormon the antimasonic Bible; Dan Vogel has clearly pointed out the anti-mason issues in upstate New York and Pennsylvania; Joseph telling Hyrum to beware of the mason's as they came after Hyrum for debts. I still think the Mason's killed Joseph - why did he give a Mason distress sign at the window right before he was killed.

Because he thought that the Mason's wouldn't take his betrayal of the oath of secrecy that he took seriously? I give up. You tell me.
