by the way, I agree with Jason. Yes, Mormonism is not mainstream christianity and teaches concepts mainstream christianity views as heresy, but if the primary definition of a christian is to "accept Jesus as one's savior", ie, to believe that the act of atonement in someway absolves human beings of sin and enables them to return to God, then there is no doubt Mormons are christians.

I understand the antipathy that exists between Mormonism and mainstream christianity, and there is no doubt the early leaders of the LDS church encouraged and exacerbated that antipathy, but that does not mean Mormons cannot logically be called Christians.

And in the Mormon mindset Joe is here to finish the job Christ started, like millennial bookends.

How do you define cult?

I don't. I don't need those kinds of terms to make my points. It's just weak. I notice you still have not answered my question, by the way.

Let me ask you this. I assume you are "traditional Christian". If the message of YOUR church is so great and grand, why not promote its message? Mormons go door to door and ask if they can tell you what their message is. If you want, you can come to my house and tell me your message. What I don't get is why you have to attack Mormonism. Is your message so weak in comparison to the Mormon message that you have to level the playing field? It is like kids all sitting around making sand castles for some contest.. Instead of one trying to just build the best sand castle, he has to go stomp on someone elses... If you are the best sand castle maker, then your own performace should catch everyone's attention...

It is stuff like this that makes Mormons and Evangelicals look like "My imaginary friend is better than your imaginary friend!"

And we wonder why America is de-churching.

Is that the best you got? Go away? You sound like a pre-schooler.

So now I get a PM from this guy saying I am nothing more than a cutco salesman living in my parent's basement.

My lord, when does the bell ending recess buzz again? I think some of us need our milk.

I think you need to craft an actual response to Richard.

OOO, bad form on the PM thing by the way.

Well, I asked permission to post his PM, and he said Ok...

Go away
Look, I know its probably past your bedtime and all but I just wanted to drop ou a note to say welcome to the board. We don't get alot of mentally unstable people here outside of the people coming to a realization Mormonism is a destructive organization and need someone to talk to. You are one of those people, just as I was. I am an agnostic now and my personal journey out of Mormonism and into reason began when I accepted what true Academia is and how we can use it to discern between b***s*** and truth.

Mormonism is obvious b***s***. Study and take your meds. You have a long day selling cutco knives tomorrow I'm sure so ill end on a cordial note.

Tell your parents I said hi if you can shout at them through the basement door.
----------------------------------

I mean come on. Is rational discussion even possible?

I'll craft a response to Richard after you answer my questions. That is the deal I'll put on the table. If you engage me like an adult, I'll be more than happy to make you happy and respond to Richard.
