That has been my biggest fustration. I do feel many people here give free passes to folks they agree with, but are very strict with those they don't. Sorry, but that is how I feel.

For those interested, this is what happened:

This morning I received a PM from Josh in which he demanded that I delete "jskains" from my blog, despite the fact that he is still using it as his screenname here, and at ZLMB, etc. I said, "Sure," but politely requested that he tell me who the "perp" behind the threats was. He told me that I "didn't need to know," but that "they"---i.e., he and "law enforcement" had figured it out and made a "deal." I asked again, stating that I'd like to know, so that I could protect myself against any potential threats. Once again, jskains told me that it was "private," that the perp was "somebody [he] knew," and that he was buddies with the cop running the investigation.

Still wondering why jskains was being so reticent with his information, I asked if I could please know the name of the investigating officer. For some unaccountable reason, Josh refused to tell me even this, thus rendering it totally impossible to verify his story. So, I have a lot of questions about all of this. For one: What kind of "deal" goes down in which somebody commits a cyber-threat like this, the police are called in, and then the perp just gets to walk away scot-free, and anonymously to boot? Second, what is the big deal in keeping the investigating officer's name a secret?

None of this makes any logical sense to me. Skains's story has changed so many times that it's difficult to know what to believe. In the end, I believe that he has behaved in a deceptive manner, but that's just my 2 cents.

Except that this information had nothing to do with you. Honestly, how on earth could the name of the cop be "used" against you in any way? That doesn't make any sense at all, Josh. Plus, many of your PMed replies were extremely dodgy. I mean, just look at your reply above! Do you calmly say, "Hey, look, I'd really just like to keep this private."?? No, instead you leap at the first opportunity to try and attack your opponent. All I know is that if *I* had received an emailed threat, I would be telling everyone I know about the "perp," so that they'd know to stay clear of him/her. I would have no problem passing along the name of the investigating officer, etc. Apparently, you live in some bizarro world where subterfuge and intrigue are the order of the day. Your story does not add up, and the fact that you kept changing it, throwing in bizarre distractions, and adding in weird coincidences.... Well, I suppose everyone can draw their own conclusions.

I am with Scratch. If someone made threats against me I would telling everyone who it was. I would want others to know and to be able to stay away from the person. Why is Jskains portecting this person? I would not be protecting anyone that made threats to me and my family.

Actually I did tell you I wanted to keep it private. My PMs were all calm, and I was polite the entire time.

For example you claimed I demanded you do anything while you were polite and nice, painting a picture I was being rude.

While I would appreciate if you removed it completely, I would ask that you at least tone it down. It would also be nice to remove the "jskains" and stick to JMS. Due to recent threats against my family, and in cooperation with law enforcement, "jskains" will soon be a deleted memory anyways as I am removing all use of my last name after the recent experiences.

Your help is appreciated in this manner.

The person does not even post here. The person is someone who knows me in real life. What would you do with the guy's name? They don't even have a profile. What else do you want from me? It's a private matter and concerns no one here.
