I lack wisdom on this issue.

I shall pray to my tree of the blinking lights to seek answers and report results.

Why then do Christians celebrate Christmas with trees when the Bible expressly forbids it?
If there is no harm in the Christmas Tree, then what harm is there for Mormons in using the cross?

All the tree could do was scream, "WHY? WHY?" as I hauled it out for trash pickup. Stupid tree was no help at all.

A while back I did some research on how the Romans incorporated the birth of Christ celebration...

If I recall correctly, Saturnalia was a week long celebration (the winter solstice celebrations going back perhaps even another three thousand years), and the Romans allowed one day for the Christians to honor the birth of Christ during this time of festivities.

The idea of decorating trees with stars, suns, ornaments, and other decorations, and bringing garlands into the home for decoration was a common way of celebrating.

Obviously Jesus was not born in December, and pretty much every custom, ritual, and tradition associated with Christmas originated in some other earlier celebration.

And thank goodness for that, since trees have such a nasty habit of moving all the time.

I think that A-Man posted this with his tongue firmly implanted in his cheek.

This type of debate, however, is not too dissimilar from that of earnest people debating what Spock really meant when he said that the good of the many outweigh the good of the one.
God . . . "who mouths morals to other people and has none himself; who frowns upon crimes, yet commits them all; who created man without invitation, . . . and finally, with altogether divine obtuseness, invites this poor, abused slave to worship him ..."

Our numbers shall grow... and we shall soon have the power to ban heretical holidays like Squirrel Appreciation Day and Tweed Day.

Beware heathen scum, the Steussite inquisition is nigh.

I really had to bolt one down a couple of years ago, it kept on trying to climb out the window..

Dr. Steuss, I will go along with you about the squirrels. But if you try to include Tweed in your purging, then you have gone too far.

It probably dropped some of its pine-cones on your ficus and was attempted to shirk future responsibilities.
