Ok, I want mesoamerica somewhere in there, and I think Mormon has to be in there. Mesoamericanmormon. That doesn't make sense. BoMnMesoamerica (not sure I like the "vs") - but will people search for Book of Mormon? BookoMormonMeso?
Your search engine "hot" words and your domain name don't need to be anything alike.
I like MormonMesoamerica. Although, if I were to see this in a search engine, I would assume it to be a pro-LDS site. Perhaps that is what you want?

The website is only going to address the feasibility of the historicity of the Book of Mormon in terms of an ancient Mesoamerican document. It's not intended to try and disprove the Book of Mormon as a generic religious or spiritual document, so I imagine some believers who are not wedded to LGT or the Book of Mormon's historicity would feel comfortable with it. So I'm not trying to make it sound anti or pro LDS in general, but rather just focusing on this one question.
Unless someone comes up with a better suggestion, I'm going to go with MormonMesoamerica. Going once, going twice....

Depending on how much you want to spend, you can always purchase multiple domain names and have them all redirect to the same site. But I do like MormonMesoamerica.
If you would like, we could look at hosting it on my work servers for free. Being IT manager does have some perks...
IM me if you are interested.

Now you see why I was gullible enough to join the Mormon church. Gad tells me to go with godaddy, I go with godaddy. Scottie tells me to go with MormonMesoamerica, I go with that. I'm easily led.
and it also allows me to blameshift if the website tanks! You all suggested lousy names!! ;)

Search Engines look for titles, tags, labels, and key content words, (along with other things), and there is a formula weighing various words... it is sort of complicated, in my opinion.
Your actual title does not need to be exactly the same as the domain name if that makes sense?
You can also have a description line after the title...
Mormon Archaeology: Beastie's guide to Mesoamerican history. Or Mormon Mesoamerica, Book of Mormon Archaeology. Or something along those lines.
I have a site hosted by ipowerweb which is inexpensive and pretty good. Godaddy is another that I have heard good things about.
The web host doesn't make a whole lot of difference in terms of Search Engines.
Personally, I would stay away from any host that requires tons of adds or pop ups. ;-)

LOL... I got distracted between the time I started to type this and the time I finished~ You are on a roll! I can't wait to see your site! :-)

beastie wrote:Another stupid question. TD told me to try and get a domain name that includes something about the topic. How about "BookofMormoninMesoamerica"? Or is that too long? Are words like "of" and "in" a problem?
hmmm. doesn't really matter that much. plenty of sites are catchy words that are easy to remember and have nothing to do with the product - which granted a name related to the topic can be helpful with, just not a must. getting traffic is a big game that depends on link popularity and Google can change the rules at a whim. the most important thing will be to convince fellow critics to link to your site.
