Charity Only if it is false, fanciful or derived from deception. You have yet to prove that. And you guys have been tyring for about 187 years. You think you would be able to come up with something in all that time. Something other than conjecture, denial, rumors, misinterpretatins.
Reminds me couple events in His life Numer Uno; Remember reading to entice his fellow LDS investors deposit money in his Kirtland anti-Bank. He had few cases of money showing on surface, 99% of it underneath contained worthless rock. Numero dos; He buried his face in the hat with the same Seer Stone He used to look to find buried treasure.
Yea, this time he hit the jackpot, no question about it.... My guess is because BS detectors weren't invented then.

Yes, you'd think that after 187 years someone in all that time would be able to prove that the Book of Mormon is false, fanciful or derived from deception. Perhaps there wasn't a way in all that time. Who knows?
I wonder if everyone will still think I'm delusional in the next life if I'm ruling the cosmos. Probably ;)
We think you are delusional because you think you will be ruling the cosmos.
Self reinforcing delusions of grandeur in order to compensate for a lack of control in your own life. Just keep telling yourself that and I'm sure your life will be just fine. Make sure to keep paying your tithing though even there is no way to reverse your decision after discovering you are screwed in the afterlife and the Mormons have been lying to you the whole time.
I control my own life. Thank you mister psychoanalysis.
Merc, do you choose to be here or are you just drawn here due to feelings of vengeance against your stepparents and the Church? Mr psychoanalysis, heal thyself.

Charity has it all wrong.
It is not for anyone to "prove" a negative. You can't.
One would figure that in 187 years someone would have found some evidence FOR the Book of Mormon. That is not the case. Save for fanciful and fantastical ideas that fly in the face of logic and reason, there is nothing to support the Book of Mormon.
Care to share evidence FOR the Book of Mormon? After all, it does describe a fantastic civilization that just doesn't show up anywhere.

People may believe in all kinds of fantastic things. It is not for me to prove them wrong. It is for them to prove that their claims have any substance. Such is the case with the Book of Mormon. I don't have to prove there never were Nephites. I have no reason to believe there were Nephites in the first place.

Hence, you are not qualified, in any manner, intellectually or otherwise, to pontificate on what apologists think or understand regarding the Gospel. Do you get it Dartagnon, you are not qualified to make the distinctions and conceive the central points. You have painted yourself into a little box in which you have only your very limited, fragile, and biased intellect to help you make sense of it all. This, of course, will fail, as intellect alone is a poor, poor substitute for revelation and direct perception.
You're fired Dartagnon, you are not qualified. Burger king is hiring...
I was told the same thing at MAD. That, being the atheist that I am, I was unqualified to comment on how Mormons act.
Forget the fact that I WAS ONE for 30+ years!!
So? Your point is?
Are you saying that it's not possible to go thirty years without having received a spiritual witness?

What would TBM's consider to be a "killer blow" to the Book of Mormon?

To find out that it's false.

Let's take this a bit further.
Charity feels, and correct me if I'm worng here Charity, that "nobody has shown the 'Book of Abraham' to be false". Is that correct?

Charity doesn't "feel" that nobody has shown the Book of Abraham to be false. Charity makes that statement of fact. What the critics have shown is that the piece of recovered papyri which allegedly came from the papyri once in Joseph Smith's possession is a Book of Breathing. This says nothing about the rest of the papyri. No one in the Church says that the Book of Abraham came for that tiny percentage of the papyri collection.
Whether the papyri which were the Book of Abraham are still somewhere and just lost or whether they burned up in the Chicago fire, who knows.
