The Egyptian Test: A Meditation on 2007 in Honor of Scratch

Post by _CaliforniaKid »

I thought it might be appropriate to start the new year by reflecting on the old one. John Gee's "Egyptian Test" seemed like as good a place to start as any. So here, in the tradition of dartagnan and Mr. Scratch, is my memorial to that shining example of scholarly achievement.

Nice job on your blog!

:-)

The whole "Gee Egyptian text" was so ridiculous... just another way to get out of having to face the issues!

"He also reads and writes fiction" might not be a good thing to have showing on a ostensibly serious blog.

Well said, Chris. That was one of the more ridiculous episodes in the life of MADB. I came away from that with not much respect for people who refuse to respond to legitimate criticism.

Writing fiction is only a problem when you substitute it for non-fiction. :P Anyway, it's really sort of a catch-all blog. I have two pieces of short fiction on there now. One is a fictional retelling of John 8 and the other is sci-fi.

I wonder if writing both fiction and non-fiction helps me distinguish between the two in FARMS publications?

Nice job. Thanks for the write-up.

I thank God for Chris.

If it were not for him I would have felt more pressure to write more on this topic, but now I almost don't want to write anything because he damn near covers it all.

Good work man!

Because serious people would not read or write fiction? Hmm.
