MA&D has made no secret of the fact that not all posters are considered equal. Scholars, pundits, big names, are a protected class. That serves a purpose. It is the protected class that keeps people coming to the board. Which may be why the MA&D board has almost 5,000 members, compared to the 535 of this board.

You forgot another protected class - believers.

Yes, it is possible for believers to be censored, but it normally requires rather extreme behavior, like Will's.

by the way, how's it working out for the "big names" to feel good about posting there? Are many still around?

Yes it is, and I'm jealous! I haven't gone back, but would love to someday. I keep looking at the falling dollar and fantasize that it will turn around sometime, but it ain't happenin! Maybe I just need to bite the bullet and splurge sometime....

Ironically, I point to my experience living in Japan as a subtle turning point in my spirituality. Teaching the people Mormonism required that we understand them a bit, and it was my first glimpse of understanding what it means to "look inside" as the source for my guidance. Generally, I don't think that is on the radar for most Mormons.

Anyway, I'll take you up on that soda anytime!

Japan had so much with shaping me and the way I view the world. It was a wonderful experience -- the people and the country. Some of my fondest memories are there. I consider Japan my home.

Well, GoodK owes me a drink. We'll all have to get together! And bring Tori so I can be ucked out at the lovey doveys in person. ;)

So Charity can't play the martyr I'll quote her.

These would fall under the hateful and cruel description I supplied:

I will try to remember that next time and dumb down my posts.

You have believed lies told by individuals in whom there is no truth. They are fighting against God and you have bought into it.You ought to at least think about how wrong you have been as evidenced in the post I am responding to. And then look to see where else you have been led astray by Satan's minions.

My intolerance remark pertains to you saying (waiting for that CFR or a retraction) that women that have multiple partners that were abandoned by their father suffer from neurosis, are not capable of consent and are raped when they have intercourse. Yep, that just irritates me that you enjoy discussing promiscuous women (apparently 3 partners according to you) and placing them into a category of mental disturbance that does not fit under the DSM for 20+ years within a thread about rape.

Remember that Charity does not believe statements such as these are insults as long as she is convinced they are *true*.

You quoted from the very people whose posts I generally don't read. So, if you missed it before, let me say again that the personal attacks on you have been unwarranted, unkind, and totally inappropriate. And I've seen people like liz defend you here. But don't expect me to defend you from posts I don't read, unless you bring them to my attention.

I must say that insults rarely hurt me, but it does hurt me that runtu apparently doesn't read my posts, either. Am I really that harsh?

Riiiight... funny thing about the *truth* being equated to you needing "shorter syllables" and posts dumbed down for you to comprehend her meaning. Did she ever retract that? What upsets me about Charity (and this is essentially all of it) that she shows no remorse or self reflection as to how she comes across to others. That she doesn't grasp that she is insulting and hateful with remarks just is astounding to me. I try really, really, really hard not to be cruel -- not so good at that sometimes. Yet, I at least grasp when I've done so. If it was unwarranted (some people deserve a tongue lashing) I regret it and fret about it. Not her. It's bizarre to watch her light of Christ in action.

I love your posts. Yes, I've seen you get a little irritated with charity, but then she gives as good as she gets, in my opinion.

And I like Schmo too. :)

No, she never retracted it, and then implied it was not an insult because it was "true". I find it laughable.

Which brings me to her charge that I was cruel when I said she must be h**l to live with. In context, what I actually said was that IF (and I put the IF in large red letters in a clarification to steuss) she is as resistant to admitting error in real life as she is on the internet, then she must be h**l to live with. And I still stand by that. Charity, even when her insulting (and juvenile) words are displayed in black and white, to this day, cannot bring herself to admit that she actually DID insult me, and that she behaved poorly. I doubt anyone would disagree with me that if she also displays this trait in real life (and I said IF, knowing sometimes people behave differently on the internet) then she'd be h**l to live with.

It was quite a vicious attack, but if you think it's any worse than what happens here, Runtu, you need to do some more reading. Your motives, and your sincerity, were questioned. I have had mine bludgeoned to death, friend. And I'm not the only one. Charity isn't Charles Manson, but reading the attacks on her here, you'd think so. Mister Scratch is the greatest defamer, libel-monger, and character-assassin on this board - WHO HERE HAS CALLED HIM ON IT??

Sorry about the capitals, but that's how I feel. You, Runtu, are talking about ONE post on MADB (criticised by Mormons too); I am talking about the constant character assassination that occurs here. And the Go-for-it, happy clapping goes on for Scratch.

Um, Ray? I have called Scratch out both publicly and privately when I have felt he has acted inappropriately. Scratch can attest to it.

What can I say? He still likes me, though. He must be a glutton for punishment. Of course, you like me, too. LOL ;)
