Re: Liz is a rat fink

Post by _Jersey Girl »

I have been commanded to edit my post. So let it be written. So let it be done.

Wow. Okay. Well, this is a little difficult but that's never stopped me before. I strongly suspected that you've have or are using 2 other handles here. I would never post my speculations publicly on the board because I think people have a right to go about their participation in whatever way they wish and I realize that sometimes there are circumstances that lead people to add multiple layers of anonymity on a board for their own shared/unshared reasons. You are under no obligation to reveal yourself to others here. I apologize to you for being so overly mean in the chat room, I was attempting to provoke a response wherein you would tip your hand. Totally failed on that count!

With regards to Mod's/IP addresses. I think it's wrong for Mod's to disclose unless there is possible harm to someone. The few times that I've asked Mod's about IP addresses in the past were in situations where I perceived a real threat of some kind. In my recollect, on those occasions I asked mods for a general state location or to confirm one for me. The reasons why are no one's business but my own. The perceived threats were either to myself or another person. Enough said.

With regards to what people have said about myself or others behind the scenes, I largely don't give a damn. What we see on boards is only one portion of who a person is in real life and I don't come here to participate in real life, I come to participate in dicussion, to learn and also to hack around a bit because my real life is quite demanding.

Posting comments would be your choice but I really am not married to the gossip mill on boards. This isn't my real life, no one here pays my bills, takes care of my family, does my job and so in the grand scheme, it's not important to me. By and large, most posters on a board are unimportant to me, except for a select few. Infact, I can think of only one poster on this board who knows anything real or relevant about me and my life, and so the rest are simply acquaintenances in terms of Internet interaction.

It seems to me that you are placing a high level of importance on this but I can well understand how you'd be irritated/annoyed with someone in possession of confidential information revealing your identity and I have no qualms at all about saying so. If Liz shared your identity based on a match of IP address then she breached confidentiality.I also dislike immensely that you have chosen to post a PM and that's why I tend to keep my own PM communication on somewhat of a superficial nature when I use PM's.

In closing, I would like to reassure you that I have never breached confidentiality concerning your name or location. In spite of occasional friction, I have remained true to my word on that count.

Alright, now I have a few things to say and let us hope it makes rational sense to sane people if there are any sane people on this board, because all of this is starting to rub me the wrong way.

People need to keep their real life drama to themselves or run the risk of public disclosure on a board like this.

Being a long time regular poster on another board, I can say without question that I've never seen so much behind the scenes gossip and tongue wagging as I've seen on LDS boards.

What is it with you guys?

a while back I allowed myself to get caught up in a board situation and I'll try hard to never make that mistake again.

It was decidedly wrong to "out" PP on this board. If people chose anonymity then by god, admin should be giving it to them and other posters should honor it on the board. Keep your speculations off the board for hell's sake. Why do you feel the need to take from another person what you require for yourself?

Just look at the evidence on this thread...a rush to edit a post regarding Moniker and yet PP is laid out in the town square for all to see and consider.

What hypocrites.

I am always amazed at the penchant of some on these LDS boards who persist in attempting to pump information from others. Who are you, what's your name, what work do you do, where do you live, what ward are you in, how old are you, marital status ad nauseum.

What on earth does it matter to anyone?

In closing, I think we should all get on topic or get the hell off the board. This kind of stuff is middle school level and I don't think it has any place on a discussion board.

I'm a bit peeved (well, more than a bit) that a mod would access IP addresses to identify a poster and then disclose that information to others. That is not appropriate. That's the real problem here, not whether people speculate about the owner of a sock puppet.

I didn't out him. He outed himself on the board. He chose to do that. I had no desire to "out" him and I didn't do it.

He asked me questions the other night while denying he was the other poster repeatedly. He then informed me I was the subject of gossip.

I saw Liz say who he was on the board and approached her... because I wished to talk to him. I wanted to know who it was that had known all this personal stuff about me that I had supposedly never interacted with. I wanted to know what was going on!?

This thread needs to be moved off-topic.

I too have never witnessed so much tongue wagging. Ever!

Shades needs to comment here. The more I think about this the closer I am to being well and truly pissed, and I try not to get involved to that point on a board.

I agree that people are free to speculate about sock puppets but I'm personally against that as well. On this thread a previous handle was changed to honor a person's request and yet, PP is left twisting. He too, speculated about a person's changed identity so where is the point at which admin edits a post from within for one person and leaves the other unaddressed?

Do you see what I'm saying, skippy?

No, you are wrong, Moniker. He didn't out himself. He posted a PM communication in which you asserted he was PP via IP confirmation. He neither confirmed or denied that it was true. Later in the thread, Liz addressed him directly as PP. He didn't out himself. Look at the exchanges.

Jersey Girl, who outed him? I am not following you? He just outed himself? How is he left twisting? He could edit his own post and not be "twisting" at all. He is the one that chose to bring this to the board. He chose to post a PM I sent him? I'm not following you.
