Ah, yes...insinuation of a conspiracy angle. What better for a thread like this? It allows for the imagination to run wild ascribing all sort of nefarious motives to me. I love it!!

I would humbly accept the compliment and the apology, but that may not fit the topic either--that is, unless by my doing so it may rightly be viewed as a character flaw (i.e. me being so arrogant and humor impaired as to think the "genius" remark was serious and in reference to me). ;-(

Pointing out the stroke of genius of this thread only exhibits your own brilliance. Perhaps that was your intention all along? Well played sir; well played.

I think Wade has made great changes in the last two years and seeks to improve himself even further. This protean effort should be applauded and encouraged.

Specific suggestions for further improvement? Perhaps trying to feel visceral empathy for the position of the other person you may be arguing with at the time. Where is she coming from? What are her pains and passions? By keying into these concerns you can further make yourself a perceptive and sensitive person. Seek to be gentle in your interactions even when they push your buttons. Seek to have your tires rotated occasionally.*

Considering that - indeed - my assignment of the title 'genius' to this thread was honest and genuine, you may - if you so wish, and if you feel it would be helpful and beneficial to yourself - view such possibilities of arrogance and / or humour deficiency as perfectly legitimate and valid.

It wouldn't necessarily be my wish that you reach those conclusions but - in this case - I think it might be more helpful to consider your overall growth and progress, rather than any discomfort I may feel over any potential misunderstanding of intent, or indeed whether I even agree with your conclusions on the matter.

Thanks - Ren.

You're lucky that Brother Brigham isn't around any more. He would promptly give a speech essentially threatening to turn the wagon train (or message board in this case) around, like he did shortly after this episode:

Pioneer Camp, Wednesday, May 26, 1847

To Marshall O.P. Rockwell:

Sir – You are hereby commanded to bring, wherever found, the body of Col. George Mills, before the Right Reverend Bishop [Edson] Whipple, at his Quarters, there to answer to the following charge, viz.: -- That of emitting in meeting on Sunday last, a sound, a posteriori, (from his seat of honor) somewhat resembling the rumble of distant thunder, or the heavy discharge of artillery, thereby endangering the steadiness of the olfactory nerves of those present as well as diverting their minds from the discourse of the speaker.

Letter to Rockwell for a mock trial while the Saints were traveling (around the time they reached Chimney Rock). Original in possession of the LDS Church Historical Department.

Now look whose treating her like a pawn. ;-)

That's more like it. Be careful, though, I have been accused of being passive-aggressive for stating things that way. ;-)

Wade - you know your avatar pic? Well, it looks to me like you've got some work to do on your rowing technique...

...I hope that's negative enough for ya...

Either way, through your act of transcenant kindness and uncommon insight, I am made, by contrast, to look all the more like a presumptuous and heartless fool, thereby satisfying the intent of the thread. My compliments to you. LOL
