"Living as a family unit" is a meaningless concept when you add in all the extensions to the family, who all come from their own 'family units.' So the 'unit' becomes either everyone in one huge, intermingled family, or you limit the 'family unit' to one man-woman couple (or man-woman-woman-woman...) and leave offspring and parents out of it.
If you can still have "friendship and companionship," what more do you need to still be a family? An official 'sealing' designation? Big deal.
If the only difference is the ability to have sex, that's also no big deal if there's no desire for it (if we will still have the desire but not the capability, that sounds a lot like hell to me).
A small correction if I may. It is not that they will not be with their loved ones. They will not live as a family unit though. So if friendship and companionship with them is what you desire there is nothing to suggest that it will not be present in other kingdoms.
So... you are asserting that folks will indeed be with their loved ones in all the Kingdoms?
So someone is there in the TK telling loved ones they can't live as a family unit?
WHAT? I have seriously NEVER heard this line of thinking.
Where is official doctrine when one needs it? :-)

Chauvinists don't get Celestial glory and he can hardly shift your form. If it's possible to do so, you would get that ability. As for the rest, I doubt pregnancy is as rough there. If you don't like kids though I would avoid the whole exaltation thing.
We may have a different definition of chauvinist. I think a man that thinks the sole purpose of a woman is to stay at home, tend to their home, raise their children, and be a good wife is a chauvinist.

Well, as it seems likely there is no sex in the TK that option might be out.

It seems when sealings were very new everyone was being sealed to everyone. It seems more as if they were trying to go to heaven as a group, sealed together amongst themselves. Then more and more members would be added in as time went on.
That's just my interpretation. Over time, of course, the sealing issue has canged very significantly. What used to be Joseph Smith's way of getting a woman to marry him (spiritual ceremony as opposed to going through the State in which polygamy was illegal) is now a way for people to still be related to their husband, their children, their parents.
In any case - I think the Mormon version is far more comforting than the EV version which sends the majority of the earth's population to hell.

I think Nehor's referencing the notion that only people in the CK will continue having kids in the after-life.
Nehor - do you think it'll be like the 'inhibitor' field in Half-Life 2?
Just the entire notion of having sex up in comfy cloudy heaven seems so bizarre to me -- especially coming from a religion that wants no one to enjoy sex when they're on Earth................................

WTF? No sex? You mean we won't have the equipment or do you mean there's going to be some ugly monitor guy walking around with a wort on his nose and Book of Mormon in his hand to ensure that couples don't "couple up"?
