What about when you click 'submit', and wait for ever, and ever, and then the page goes to some 'error' page (can't remember exactly what it says, but it's something like 'page cannot be found')? So i go back a page, then click 'submit' again. Sometimes there's a double post, sometimes not.

That's the whole point of this thread. Don't bother waiting forever and ever. After about 15 seconds or so, if it still hasn't "taken," merely click on the "Mormon Discussions Forum Index" link and keep right on reading, surfing, etc. The system will work in the background.

Don't bother going back a page and clicking "Submit." Merely click on the "Mormon Discussions Forum Index" link and keep right on reading, surfing, etc. The system will work in the background.

I'm skeptical of doing that. What if the post never shows up? Then you have to re-type everything.
Like i said, sometimes, my posts just never go through - when i get the 'page cannot be displayed' error. I'd rather wait and see if it goes through before starting to surf the site.

If the submission takes a while (and it usually does), I'll do a quick ctrl-c over the whole post, so that I can paste into a new reply if necessary. And it has been necessary before.
The whole site has been generally slow for me this week, for whatever reason.
I may be going to hell in a bucket, babe / But at least I'm enjoying the ride.

Copy the text of your post into Notepad or something similar before clicking away. I've lost a couple of big posts here before, so if in doubt (with big posts) I always do that now...

If your computer is getting bogged down trying to send a page of text characters to a website, you are probably trying to browse the web on an abacus. A rusty one...

Regards,
Computer Dummy.
This is false.
Works for me all the time. I just did it. It could, however, be a myth. I'm openminded.
