In other words, over time they will slowly be relegated to the personal opinion category when they no longer fit within social accepted norms.Coggins7 wrote:How soon before any or all of Hinckley's teachings are moved to the "personal opinion" bucket?
Some of his teachings certainly will. Those teachings that came by the spirit of revelation will not.

How long really, will this silly "official doctrine" charade continue among the critics?
As long as the majority of the members continue to "follow the prophet" without question, regardless of the lack of inspiration.

How remarkably insensitive. I guess your avatar should have clued me in first, though.
It happens to all of them.

Amazing, really. Gall of bitterness.

While some of ths is correct for much out of the 19th century I see little of it now. Course most of what they say is fairly general. Care to give examples from Hunter, Benson, Kimball, Lee, Smith or McKay? What of theor teachings have been moved to personal opinion? I can think of a couple. Let's see if you can.

Interesting thought. Maybe there already is. Maybe he/she is not Mormon, but there could already be one on the planet. No?

It's nothing personal against Pres. Hinckley. I liked him. My heart goes out to his family. But in his own words, it's either true or it's a fraud. And it all rests on the first vision and the Book of Mormon. If Joseph did have that vision and the Book of Mormon is true, then Pres Hinckley truely was a prophet. If Joseph did not have that vision and the Book of Mormon is not true, then Pres. Hinckley was nothing but a good man with good intentions.
So we decide for ourselves if Joseph had that vision or not. It all starts there.
