By the way, Mark Lanegan is a genius. Here's a live version of Wedding Dress off of his album Bubblegum. Go buy it. Amazing.

And now for something COMPLETELY different: "Present" by Jitterin' Jinn.

I'll bet that none of you have ever heard this song before. It was quite popular in Japan when I was a new missionary there, which puts its debut at about 18 years ago.

I think you'll agree that it's quite catchy. From the beginning you'll hear the line "Anata ga watashi ni kureta mono" repeatedly, which means "The thing you gave to me." That line is juxtaposed with something else, always a description of some gift or other. The chorus translates to:

"I really liked it, but
you had a girlfriend
I really liked it, but
that's the last present
Bye-bye my sweet darling (in English)
Sayonara is the next thing I'm giving"

Now, enjoy the sights and sounds of the music video for "Present" by Jitterin' Jinn:

"Finally, for your rather strange idea that miracles are somehow linked to the amount of gay sexual gratification that is taking place would require that primitive Christianity was launched by gay sex, would it not?"

WHAT THE F*** WAS THAT, silentkid?

What makes you think Deerhoof and Jitterin' Jinn are anywhere even remotely related to each other's musical genres?

Deerhoof is the postmodern version of Japanese pop. Or something. I've dug a hole here. Maybe Blixa can help me out. Actually, I had a discussion with one of my friends the other day about whether Deerhoof and Blonde Redhead had anything in common other than having lead Japanese female vocalists. Not that this has anything to do with anything. I thought that since you like Japanese pop music, and since I like "indie" rock, I'd post an amalgam of the two genres. A blend of styles. Something the kids might like.

Here are a few Grandaddy songs. One of my favorite bands of all time. They broke up about a year ago. :(

AM 180 (live version of song from Under the Western Freeway). You may recognize this song if you've seen the movie 28 Days Later:
