ps: was his ass cold when he found that seerstone? I'm just wondering, in light of the old saying...

Which old saying is that? Cold ass equals hot rock?

It's just one of those vulgar old sayings, such as:

"Colder than a well digger's ass..."
"Colder than a witch's titty..."
"That could freeze the balls off a brass monkey..."
etc.

;-)

Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen

crystal ball
black or dark mirrors
crystals
pendulums
cups of treacle or ink
ouiji boards

Edited to add that I just read Runtu's seerstone and must have missed the original discussion If my post repeats material already covered, I apologize.

I have no idea if God would have let them work. It's possible. I suppose I'd evaluate like I would any other claim.

If God wanted me to BUY a seerstone he'll have to tell me and not your ouiji board. I seriously doubt he'd use Ebay as his method of giving me one. On the bright side if he did i might be able to deduct my bid from my Tithing. ;)

You would likely be amazed at what terms Ezekiel or Isaiah would have used if they lived today - YO and WO be unto you Zion, f-16s will drop napalm on your family reunions - hummers will roll over you while you lounge in the sun and negative feedback on ebay will forever haunt you.

Speaking of which, I wonder if Michael Chandler was the 19th century equivalent of Ebay.

On the bright side if he did I might be able to deduct my bid from my Tithing. ;)

I think that only works under the Law of Consecration.

But what if he got it at the BYU Bookstore and you promised to use it only on a non-profit prophet basis?

How 'bout tryin two dozens (Benjamin Franklin) eyes and sitting on a poker/Blackjack table.
You have cool 12hundred dollars, you got a fifty/fifty chance to win, if you're good.
I'll take my chances rather there than empowering a person with a pair of insignificant 2oomillion year old washed out rocks.
PS: Especially the guy used this rocks for looking lost treasures.
Get a clue, if you want to throw away your money, at least gamble or put in stock market, or buy a pair of shoes for your kid.

Gullibility makes a seerstone.
And crawling on the planet's face
Some insects called the human race
Lost in time
And lost in space...and meaning

I'm sorry! I'm sorry I'm sorry! , for I can't moderate myself.

I read many, too many. I read everything. In my 60+ years I have found one "stone" mentioned in the (Old Worlds) literature. (palantir mentioned in the Lord of the Rings, which is a tale, defined by Tolkien, the writer himself. by the way it is a good book).

How many stupidity can evolve from the countless religion, cult, belief around us? And from the countless ones around You, US denizens?
Especially from THIS one?
Seerstone, Urimthummim, Kolob, endowments, appearing longdead persons, God, Holy Ghost/Spirit, angels, revelations, visions, blessing, washing, anointing, telestial, dispensation, stewardship, prophets-seers-revelators-translators. Words which have defined meaning in the dictionaries but make no sense in a real environment.

It is forbidden to use the fourletter words. Please imagine all of them here.
- Whenever a poet or preacher, chief or wizard spouts gibberish, the human race spends centuries deciphering the message. - Umberto Eco
- To assert that the earth revolves around the sun is as erroneous as to claim that Jesus was not born of a virgin. - Cardinal Bellarmine at the trial of Galilei
