I meet fictional characters all the time in my dreams. Rick Hunter says hi to everyone.

For the faithful, any round object with a hole in the center could be used as a seerstone.

I like to imagine the FARMS apologists using Krispy Kreme donuts. But really, that's not too likely. They'd only work as long as they were intact. One bite taken from a Krispy Kreme would render it useless as a seerstone. So, no doubt if they're employed as seerstones by FARMS, they're only used for a second or two!

Is it something about a particular stone that makes it suited to functioning as a seerstone? Or would any stone do?

You mean "the imagination of the person using it".

And how do "we" know this is not just a made up story?
