Home teachers visit your home once a month and chat about random things for several minutes to sort of check up on you. Then they share the monthly home teaching lesson from the church's magazine called the Ensign. Afterwards they ask if you need help with anything (usually moving furnature, food from the bishop, etc.).
Do I enjoy it? No. I'm an introvert so I dislike it quite a bit. Still, it provides benefit to some people. I just wish it was more of a voluntary thing instead of a church-wide calling. I don't particularly like getting home taught either.
Then grow a pair and turn down both.
I do miss the fresh meat that the EQ prez and ward mission used to send to me.... Nothing like seeing the look of shock on an unwitting Mormon face...

by the way, Boaz, I still think your avatar is offensive. Do you think you can show some humanity, and remove it? We all know what it implies. It's still meant to mock Mormons. So how about it? There are lots of avatars you can choose which are less offensive.

I don't like paying taxes, or paying the bills either, but that I keep doing so implies nothing about being an adult. There are plenty of things in life I don't like. Sometimes ya gotta put up with them if you want something else even more than you dislike the thing you endure.
That's General Leo. He could be my friend if he weren't my enemy. eritis sicut dii I support NCMO

That was poor.
You will not spend time in prison if you do not do your stupid home teaching, nor will the utility company cut off your power if you stop putting up with reluctant home teachers.
Even though my active aunt was the wife of the stake president, she still refused to be a visiting teacher and never allowed them into her home. She was vocal about her dislike of the entire "charade" as she called it.
I guess you are too afraid of the social backlash from your wife and on up through the ward and stake.

What is so offensive about masonic symbols on some stick figures?
Most Mormons do not believe the markings on their Jesus jammies are masonic, so who cares?
Additionally, you are not a member, so why should I care what you ask of me?

Or maybe I think it's more than just a "charade" and hat the analogy is actually apt from my perspective. Did you really think I was trying to convince you that home teaching is worth enduring?

Jeezuus pull the garmies outta your ass crack.
Just saying, be a man. Do what makes you happy, not them.
Additionally,do you really think these families enjoy having a shy reluctant person forcefully fumbling through a rote lesson instead of doing something else on the last Sunday evening of the month, even nothing at all?
