Mormon Actors:

Post by _karl61 »

Can a TBM be a TV or Screen star: can they play the lead in Casablanca with the kiss scenes being with someone other than their spouse. Informed LDS could go with stari decisis and Joseph Smith's behavior to justify a kiss but then there is always the way the church was and the way church is today.

We did a stake production of "Sound of Music" and the two leading characters, married to other people, did a stage kiss. No problem.

How about it? One could always say "That's just the way I kiss....." ;)

Pretty slippery slope, there charity. If it's ok to kiss another person's spouse for a stage play, then how about a little pat on the butt? If that's ok, why not a little rub of a nipple? No problem, right?

Next thing you know, you've got a full-scale production of Orgasmo.

What about ballet dancers? Most of the characters are not compatible with garments. And the male ones show their .. ehm .. shape.[/i]

I have to agree with Schmo here...

Also, what about TBM's that compromise their standards. For example, I've seen Gladys Knight (temple endowed) in a sleeveless gown.

What about actors that take roles that are completely against the standards of the church; smoking, drinking, adultery, sex outside of marriage, etc....

TBM's are to avoid the appearance of evil (or something to that effect)
