The early laws of the land did not legally recognize any extra wives or marriages of the early polygamous Mormons.
Therefore, according to definition, the offspring of said illegitimate sexual relationships are called bastards.

To make this fair, by definition, I am a bastard since my parents were never married. I was adopted to a moron, errr Mormon family who did not have polygamist bastard ancestors.
