Here I was happy to read a book just for kicks and you come in and make some indepth connection to architecture or art or some other high cultural aspect...and make me feel guilty for reading stuff for the storyline. Hey I think it makes things more fun and anyway in a graphic novel you already have much more going on that just a "story line"---how can you ignore the visual. And Alan Moore is such an archivist; all his works abound with dense layers of references to matters historical and cultural. You should also check out some of the books he builds on like.t Peter Ackroyd's Hawksmoore, itself spawned by Iain Sinclair's Lud Heat. Also, look at some some of Hawksmoore's architecture--its really strange. The central placement of Christ Church Spitalfields in Moore's fantasmagoria is well deserved. Its since been restored as has his St. George's Bloomsbury. Alan Moore's enthusiasm has been one element in a mini-Hawksmoore revival. I'd love to visit some of these, especially Christ Church.

Actually I am very fatigued and so my posts lately are just run-bys. I don't get enoough sleep. To get a proper amount of sleep I should be going to bed at 6:00 PM. And I am a night owl. My work has me up at 2:30 in the morning.
I haven't been reading like I should either. If I ever get my act together I can hopefully be more of a contributor around here.
I do feel guilty about it and can hopefully repent soon.

Go to bed at 6:00 pm. Sleep is the best thing for a sound mind - I think.
