At the Life Point Bible Church in Quincy, Ill., last month, evangelical apologist Rocky Hulse told 35 members that Mr. Romney should not be considered a Christian. Mr. Hulse, a former Mormon, told the group that Mormons believe in more than one god and that they believe God impregnated Mary in the normal fashion, not by granting her a virgin birth. The audience sat rapt.
Scott Gordon, president of the Foundation for Apologetic Information & Research, a Mormon group, says Mr. Hulse is wrong on the facts. Mormons pray to one God, he says, and believe, like most Christians, that Mary was a virgin. Mr. Gordon went on talk-radio shows to rebut claims of other apologists.

Scott was not dodging. Mormons pray to Heavenly Father and no one else. We are instructed that we are to not pray to Jesus or to Heavenly Mother. Doing so publically will net a member a fast trip to the bishop's office.
I've never heard anyone officially declare that Mary was not a virgin when Christ was born.

Look again at the above. Now, I don't know who this Mr. Hulse is but he said nothing about praying to or worshiping more than one god. He said "believe in more than one god". I think that's well within the framework of Mormon doctrine.

Mitt has done more damage to the LDS image than all past anti Mormon efforts COMBINED.
Many nevermos had no real impression of Mormonism.
Mitt presented it in a bad light.

There was more anti-Mormon bigotry involved in Romney's defeat than I had realized, as this, and other information shared with me by Trevor, goes to show. I'm discouraged by this and surprised. I thought such things were largely being looked past in this election. In any case, I still do definitely think the election shows progress in overcoming prejudicies, even if it shows that we have a good way still to go.
I have spoken with several Anti-Mos who were prepared to vote Mitt. Their rational: their theodispute is not with "...good living Mormon members, but with THE Corporporate Church, & its doctrines..." Some of which that even disturb pew-LDS.
They expressed disappointment at his decision to withdraw. It does make me wonder about his integrity, or that of any who choose to not go the distance. IF they really believe THEY (the individual) should hold office, why quit when the going gets tough? (Retorical question) So, it appears they are fair-weather politicians... Not a question of the "best" but of the most "popular"... Beta vs VHF YIKES!!!
