Mr. Marher is, not to put too fine a point on it, an airhead; one of the most uneducated and uninformed pundits on the American scene. That he is a left wing airhead makes him all the more grating, as this ideology gives him an ethical freedom similar conservatives do not, as a general rule, enjoy.
Maher will not be remembered as anyone of any importance, unlike President Hinkley.

In what way is Maher "one of the most uneducated"?
In terms of what?

Really? Show any american a picture of wrinkley and Maher and I bet overwhelmingly they will recognize maher over wrinkley.
No one knows who hinckley is, except for Larry kind who got to bed his spunky jack Mormon wife because of the interview.

I'm sorry, I have to do this in order to prove my point which was that Maher looks like a younger Hugh Hefner. I actually found a photo of them side by side. Just look at this...Maher could be Hef's love child:

You could tell old Larry did not like Maher's remarks about the dead president Gordon.
The only reason Larry even speaks nice about Hinck was because he wanted sex from his jack Mormon wife 20 years his senior.
Sorry Polygamy pothhead. Not going to bother with it. You and Mahr are not even worth the gas I pass.

Funny, I may disagree with them, but I doubt they are, as a group, generally insincere.
Did you go on a mission Trevor?

Jersey, Maher is a dip. I've never heard an informed or intellectually substantive comment come out of his philistine mouth, and much of what he's said over the years has been frankly outrageous. He's an airhead Hollywood liberal with a big mouth, many opinions, and little actual knowledge. He's one of the most uneducated, yes, but that's only saying his bulb is somewhat dimmer than most other denizens of the entertainment class. We are, after all, speaking of a class of people that included intellectual heavyweights like Sean Penn, George Cloony, and Ted Danson.

Maher quotes:
Let's be honest - this electorate has switched because that Christian right has taken over the Republican Party. They started it in the '80s with Reagan and Pat Robertson. And like a parasite on a host, they now own it… Let's examine what 'moral values' are. Because I don't think religion always corresponds with moral values. To me — and they're very good at conflating morality with religion, just the way George Bush won election by conflating integrity with monogamy. He ran against Bill Clinton and his terrible blowjob by saying, 'I have integrity.' That's different than monogamy. Okay, the same way, when we talk about values, I think of rationality in solving problems. That's something I value. Fairness, kindness, generosity, tolerance. That's different. When they talk about values, they're talking about things like going to church, voting for Bush, being loyal to Jesus, praying. These are not values.
Real Time with Bill Maher, 5 November 2004; shortly after the 2004 U.S. presidental election
During Maher's appearance on Larry King Live on August 11, 2005, he said he was an agnostic who nevertheless is still quite open to the idea that God exists. The following exchange also occurred on that program:
CALLER: "Hi. Well, my question is, the Lord spoke to me approximately three years ago, and if the Lord spoke to you [Maher], I was wondering if you'd become a believer."
MAHER: "No, I'd check into Bellevue, which is what you should do..."
Maher then explained that certainty in one's religious belief is absurd, using the example of Scientology: "You [a Scientologist], like all religious people, have a neurological disorder. And the only reason why people think it's sane is because so many other people believe the same thing. It's insanity by consensus."
"But I've often said that if I had — I have two dogs — if I had two retarded children, I'd be a hero. And yet the dogs, which are pretty much the same thing. What? They're sweet. They're loving. They're kind, but they don't mentally advance at all.... Dogs are like retarded children."

On May 3, 2005, while appearing as a guest on Craig Ferguson's Late Late Show (CBS), Maher seemed to excuse Michael Jackson's alleged child molestation behavior. He spoke about the need for perspective when thinking about crimes and criminals. He implied that the alleged behavior wasn't so bad because it was only alleged that Michael Jackson "serviced" the children and not the other way around. After a response from Ferguson, Maher said that getting beaten up by schoolyard bullies was worse than "being gently masturbated by a pop star." Maher brought up the comparison without any prodding or provocation from Ferguson. Immediately after Maher's statement, Ferguson ended the interview.
If I had a child, the last book I would ever give to teach morality would be the Bible, especially the Old Testament. […] at least half of the Commandments are stupid.
“We are a nation that is unenlightened because of religion. I do believe that. I think religion stops people from thinking. I think it justified crazies.”
“I think flying planes into a building was a faith-based initiative. I think religion is a neurological disorder.”
one has to be "schizophrenic" to go about life normally for six days a week only to, on the seventh go to church and believe that when drinking communion wine one is drinking "the blood of a 2,000-year old space god."
