But you said you were "emotional." What does that mean? Which particular emotion were you referring to? Sadness? Hunger for revenge? Anger?
Sad. I haven't felt any anger whatsoever.
Nor did Michael Richards "directly state" that he meant his words in a racist way.
Again, you're comparing apples with oranges. Besides, I like Jews and African Americans, but I detest white southerners.
So: again you are trying to justify what you did, this time via an adjustment concerning the "level" of your offensiveness? Is there an official scale for such a thing---e.g., Mel Gibson's stuff rates a 9.1, whereas Michael Richards was an 8? would you really trivialize what you said in this manner, by trying to downplay it?
Clearly there exists a morality scale whereby we should judge the level of offensiveness. And yes, though I accept that my sarcasm was inappropriate given the gravity of the situation, I think it's a bit silly for you to infer that my comment was anywhere as grievous as Gibson's or Richard's. I would submit that we must continually judge these sort of mistakes in accordance with a scale of impropriety.
Sorry, Dave, but it is becoming increasingly clear that you just don't feel sorry about what you did. You feel justified, and don't think you did anything wrong. I really hope you don't fall into this pit of infallibility, as so many Mopologists before you have.
No worries then, since I've admitted that my comments were inappropriate and I have never, nor will I ever claim infallibility.
