Bill Maher will re-air 10 Feb. 2008 on LK

Post by _JAK »

Bill Maher will be re-aired Sunday night Feb 10, 2008 for those who missed the first time.

It's worth seeing. Comedy, intellect, insight combined.

So very, very, pathetically, abysmally sad.

And Coggins' Educational Level?

Post by _JAK »

Coggins7 wrote: Quote JAK: Bill Maher is a comedian. Beyond that he is bright, literate, informed, and insightful in his comedy. He certainly is no “air-head."

Those here who would criticize Maher are incapable of such literate comedy. He is not only funny, he is solid in analysis through that comedy. That’s a reason he appears on Larry King Live. We who post here do not appear on Larry King Live.

While it may be self-serving to attack Bill Maher, the audience here is infinitesimal compared with the Maher audience for his show and the audience for the King show.

Keep in mind that while King has Maher on his show, he also has a host of conservative politicians and pundits on his show as well.

King is always in search of guests many of whom have controversial positions. Maher simply takes facts from the news and turns them into comedy as well as information. Jay Leno does the same thing. Virtually all comedians capitalize on some news stories and use those stories in their comedy routines.

Coggins:

Coming from JAK, this only proves the old adage that it takes one to know one. Maher is a typical leftist celebrity airhead, as any number of his comments on numerous issues over the years demonstrate.

Further, almost nobody watches Larry King Live or CNN in any event, so what is really being argued here is a very minor talk show host interviewing a cookie cutter Hollywood leftist Twinkie head who thinks people care what he thinks about politics or religion. There are among us, people like JAK who's intellectual development and depth have not evolved, as of yet, beyond the either the Bill Maher or CNN level.

JAK:

I really like your response, Coggins. Why would I say that?

It’s because it contains not an ounce of refutation to my post and is entirely ad hominem.

In addition, your wrong about the viewership of Larry King Live. The viewership is in the millions.

Your comment: “Almost nobody watches Larry King Live or CNN in any event” is demonstrably false, as are virtually all your pronouncements.

What you will see in the Nielson report from 2005, is that FOX killing CNN, and CNN ranks consistently at the bottom of cable news shows, and in particular, its general news broadcasts.

But this is all academic. In the last 25 years or so, mainstream media viewership and major daily readership have plummeted. JAK is one of the last holdouts and partisans of the old liberal media machine. A large percentage of other Americans have grown up intellectually and moved on.

This is more recent:

CNN Headline News doesn't even reach a quarter of a million viewers. Rush Limbaugh reaches 20,000,000 listeners each week.

JAK goes down with the rat infested, sinking left wing ship.

As he should.

I never claimed Maher was ignorant, I only claim that hes an butthole.

The man hates children, and sees marriage as a refuge for insecure liars who are co-dependent.

I think he was part of the vast right wing conspiracy. Now Monson and Karl Rove are running it.

Entertainment & Education in One Show

It’s great. A few more million people will see the show.

Try to watch the entire interview, Coggins. It’s entertaining and educational at the same time.

I've got far better ways to kill brain cells JAK, but I can't get a Temple Recommend if I keep that up.

Do you ever watch any serious political TV JAK? How much C-SPAN do you watch? Unedited Senate and Congressional testimony and hearings, think tank symposiums, press conferences, all without your favorite left wing media shills telling you what you just heard and why you should or should not think its important?

How many conservative or libertarian books, magazine articles, or online essays have your read in the last year JAK?

You’re not helping your case with 2004-2005 evidence on TV viewing.

Your latest 2006 source states this:

For 2006:

“The drops at Fox News were the largest of all and marked the first time the cable news leader had begun to bleed viewers.”

“The growth in MSNBC and some individual programs on CNN Headline News seem to be associated with the rise of even sharper opinions in prime time, and the declines at Fox News raise questions about whether its longtime evening lineup is losing some of its appeal. “
