Could that be a problem here if there were an ignore feature?
No. It wasn't a problem there, either. Instead of clicking on "Quote," all you had to do was copy-&-paste their words into a brand-new reply.

Amen. Personally I think an ignore feature would be great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (That's right a damn moderator is for the ignore feature.)
EDIT: I'd also mention that this is the only board I have ever been on (EVER, anywhere) where the mods have no power at all to penalise people for breaking forum rules. I don't think most of these other boards consider themselves 'draconian'. At all...
Yeah....I bet I could get even the most ornery of posters to be nice if I had a little bit of stick (then again I don't really have a carrot to bribe them with...).

God knows if I had the right to ban...I'd fall on my sword and put myself out of my posting misery.

On the board that I'm referring to, I could make a brand new reply but because of the ignore feature and the threaded view option, my posts would go up out of order and throw off the thread.
I don't think that could happen with a linear only format such as this.
There are downsides to all of what is being discussed here and I agree with whomever said there is no perfect solution.

Hey, now! You always split my comments off when I ask. Am I just too needy? I am, aren't I?
What I've done lately is copy and paste off-topic remarks (Coggins and I derail A LOT) into a new thread and continue the debate. That's something else that board denizens could do without bothering anyone else. Also there were a few threads that were being derailed and I just suggested a new thread be made to deal with it.

I'm trying to ignore the posters that push my buttons. ooooommmmmm

Indeed Bond. And lets be clear on another point...
...even if you were to - as punishment - 'consign' someone to a subset of rooms, that would still be the most 'lax' punishment I know of. On any board. For most boards, they'd be getting a temp ban for repeated rule breaking.
As long as you were consigning people to lower rooms (I'd assume Telestial would make sense...), then people could still post whatever you heck they like.
I know of NO other board where somebody can be continually breaking a forum rule, and yet still be posting exactly what they like day in, day out on that same board.
And people are reacting to this idea like I just got it out of my 'Fascism for dummies' handbook..?! What the hell?

I just spent the whole day dealing with needy customers....please let me decompress a bit before I answer that honestly.
j/k ;)

I think it'd be great personally. Hopefully a little slap on the nose with a rolled up newspaper would give some of the posters a headsup to just clean it up a little bit. We're not saying be saints, but a little decorum would make things go alot smoother (particularly for the mods...those lovable people who delete the spam and porn!)

Ha!Ha! I don't own that one. :)
I wasn't reacting to your suggestions in that way -- sorry if you read it that way. I just think it's subjective since there are NO clear rules here. The rules must be outlined first for anything of that sort to happen. I think attacks should be in telestial. But, apparently that is not a board rule (according to Shades). I was told that threads that attack a person had to be in telestial -- but we see that these threads stay in terrestrial. There is NO consistency.
Before we relegate anyone to anywhere there must be a clear rule that is being violated. There are none, really.
