I agree that the Bible attributes all sorts of immoral garbage to God. It reflects poorly on the Bible. I, for example, cannot and will not accept a God who commands his people to commit genocide. Ah - it would seem that Zak can call God a liar using scripture, but if you actually say it without a scripture, you get suspended. I get it (not).
Weird, isn't it? We can all call God a liar and a killer so long as we're not morally condemning him for it, but as soon as we start to wonder if, "hey, maybe God shouldn't go around killing and lying?" we get suspended.

Is the lying God of Ezekial better? Because that's what Zak was doing (after starting a thread solely to allow for his "revelation" of the scriptures supporting his point).

I'm not defending it. Both Zak and Chris said that God lies. Only one got suspended. That's what I find odd.

Exactly. The debate had devolved into, "you God lies as just as much as my God." My point was that yes, the God of the Bible is a liar and a murderer. That doesn't vindicate the God of Joseph Smith, who's only a liar.

Did you read where Zakuska agree with cjcampbell's post that God does not lie, that those scriptures which say He does are mistranslations and that Joseph Smith actually corrected some of them.
Selective reading makes for uninformed opinions.
I hope you are really innocent of knowing just how bad CK's statement was. But it is beyond me how it cannot be perceived for what it was.

My post was not specifically addressing Zak. There was another poster just shortly before my post who used the tu quouque argument, as well. His post was the one I was directly responding to.
As for the God of Joseph Smith being a liar, I find it interesting that nobody else there actually disputed this after I pointed out that this is the teaching of D&C 19, the Book of Abraham, and Joseph's letter to Nancy Rigdon. Instead they turned on the Bible like a pack of wolves. Now you're telling me that my reading of these documents is offensive. How come you're the only Mormon who seems to think so?
