I would guess that about 80% of the doctrinal issues the Book of Mormon addressed have been debated for 2000 years.
You'd have to focus on incredibly generic "doctrinal issues' to argue this case. OTOH, the obsession with, say, secret societies (masonry) was so intense in Joseph Smith' time period that it actually spawned an entire political party. Universalism not only was a hot topic in the area, but also split apart Joseph Smith' personal family.
If Book of Mormon apologists could find ANY topics from ancient Mesoamerica that match to the specificity of these topics that 19th century New England does, they'd pee their pants in ecstasy.
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

Evidence please
It's coming, Jason.
Well you keep saying that!! But I will be 90 by the time I see it. Really, do you have something worth reviewing or this that a something will pop up at some point to prove this line of thinking.

It's a 19th century piece of fiction, till you can demonstrate otherwise. Sorry. That's just the way it is.
Sorry
It is called witnesses and a pre-preponderance of evidence. where is yours?
What is a pre-preponderance of evidence?
Anyhow, yes, i'd like to see the overwhelming extraordinary evidence for the extraordinary claims of the Book of Mormon. Until then, it's a 19th century copy/pasted work, as Jersey Girl claimed. She should have even added "fictional", as there's no support for the contrary.
You need to be the one providing evidence here, not Jersey Girl.
WK: "Joseph Smith asserted that the Book of Mormon peoples were the original inhabitants of the americas"
Will Schryver: "No, he didn’t." 3/19/08
Still waiting for Will to back this up...

90? Well, how old are you now and when's your next birthday? Will something pop up? Oh hell yes.
