[rant on] I've never understood this stance. Artists and musicians live everywhere and come from everywhere. Just because one is local, doesn't make his/her contribution any less important. You could be a terrible musician from New York, California, or Chicago and get more respect in Vegas than any local act. This was one of the big problems in the Salt Lake music scene. People from Salt Lake didn't give the local bands (some of which were great) a chance, just because they were from Salt Lake. Frustrating. [/rant off]

Yeah I hate this too. I mean being from New York seems to make artists ten times as valuable. I remember this one guy who was an excellent drawer, used to do pencil drawings of barns and trees and ponds that were excellent. He was also almost illiterate and made his living as a farmer. I bought a little drawing from him for 5$ once....if someone from SoHo had done it it would have probably been worth 100$ or more.

Unfortunately, probably not until my friend gets back from his spiritual quest. Although there is a chance once the weather gets a little more friendly to my desert blood that I might venture a quest to that side of the world despite my friend’s absence.
It’s all a matter of funds and time (sometimes being a transient doesn't seem all that bad)…

Farewell by Anne Bronte
Farewell to thee! but not farewell To all my fondest thoughts of thee: Within my heart they still shall dwell; And they shall cheer and comfort me. O, beautiful, and full of grace! If thou hadst never met mine eye, I had not dreamed a living face Could fancied charms so far outvie.
If I may ne'er behold again That form and face so dear to me, Nor hear thy voice, still would I fain Preserve, for aye, their memory.
That voice, the magic of whose tone Can wake an echo in my breast, Creating feelings that, alone, Can make my tranced spirit blest.
That laughing eye, whose sunny beam My memory would not cherish less; -- And oh, that smile! whose joyous gleam Nor mortal language can express.
Adieu, but let me cherish, still, The hope with which I cannot part. Contempt may wound, and coldness chill, But still it lingers in my heart.
And who can tell but Heaven, at last, May answer all my thousand prayers, And bid the future pay the past With joy for anguish, smiles for tears? .... some poems don't rhyme, and some stories don't have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what's going to happen next. ~ Gilda Radner
