So she should be held blameless for that.

Understandable Shades. I am speaking generally.

Let me be clear that I am not suggesting she be removed from the moderation team. Far from it. As long as she sticks to performing very vital duties such as spam removal, offensive content reclassification and occasional "border disputes".

That's what she has been doing. Are you suggesting that she has done something other than that? And if so, what, exactly are you referring to, and why did you feel it necessary to create a thread regarding the issue if there is nothing specific?

Since we're all discussing things here....Mods....maybe we need to come to some sort of consensus. I know that when I move a thread, I usually make some sort of Moderator Note explaining that I moved the thread, and why it was moved. That way, if anyone has an issue about it, they can be PM me directly. I take full responsibility for that move.

I know that Shades wants us to be "clones" of him, but since we have quite a few Mods now, that might be a good check and balance system. It can also avoid posters thinking that one Mod did something when maybe another Mod did it.

Just a thought.

I was wondering the same exact thing.

In case this has to do with last night: I thought bond had moved the 4-5 posts from last night (that are now the myspace thread) in question as he's done that in the past. I asked him and he said no... so I asked Jersey Girl, 'cause we had a few fairly swipey posts back and forth, and my post was in reply to hers -- and I wanted to know why her post to me stayed and mine was moved. I asked her in a PM -- very polite, with 5 words, succint, that was ONLY about the thread -- she picked it up and didn't answer -- I didn't know what to think then? I figured she was upset with me 'cause of what was going on the board and asked for clarification. I talked to Shades this morning about it and told him I was concerned that I didn't get a reply and didn't know precisely what had happened?

Yet, I haven't discussed it with mercury.... so I don't know that it would have anything to do with it?

I've had several PM's with Jersey Girl this morning. She is up to her eyeballs in work. That is probably why she did not address your specific PM last night.

Also, I know that Jersey Girl and I feel the same way about the issue regarding threads that we are personally involved in. Normally, we will not take action if we are heavily involved in the conversation(unless there are out and out sexual references, etc.). Case in point---my thread in the Celestial Forum. There were several posts on that thread that were borderline "Terrestrial swipes". I PM'd Shades and had him look at it.

My point is, I didn't feel comfortable making that call regarding a split because I was the originator of the thread. I think that Jersey Girl would have found it unethical for HER to have split off your comments since she was involved in conversation with you.

Again, that's why I think a lot of this confusion would be solved if we, as moderators, simply "documented our work", so to speak. ;)

I am totally confident Jersey Girl is fair, honest, and conscientious.

I agree with this Liz...

I've "cleaned up" quite a few posts with orphan [quote] tags, or deleted duplicates, and I don't comment on those, but I will if I do anything like that.

Amen! ;)

As far as addressing my concern she could have typed "no" and hit submit. Dunno? That doesn't seem unreasonable. Does it?

Mercury, I can't really "resolve your concern" unless and until you tell us, specifically, what it is about Jersey Girl being a moderator that makes you uncomfortable.

So the best thing I can do right now is mindread a little. Were you worried that the recent unpleasantries between her and Moniker make her less objective and thus less qualified to moderate? If that's the deal, then be advised that I made EXPRESSLY clear in various PMs to my potential moderators that there is a DISTINCT difference between when they are in "moderator mode" and when they are "speaking as a man" (or, in this case, speaking as a woman). When she and Moniker were interacting, she was NOT in "moderator mode," so I personally don't think there's any cause for concern.

If you were thinking of something else, then by all means let me know.
