Amen! ;)

As far as addressing my concern she could have typed "no" and hit submit. Dunno? That doesn't seem unreasonable. Does it?

It doesn't...on the surface...but look--

This is a volunteer service. I have had people PM me and have not been able to respond until the next day because I'm trying to get out the door leaving work, etc. I think we have to make allowances for "real life" stepping in once in a while.

Well, I certainly agree with the real life!

To be perfectly honest 'though -- I assumed she didn't reply (to my concise 5 worded question that was the same in the message as the subject) 'cause she was ticked off at me.

I suppose someone else let her in on the fact that I discussed it with Shades, 'cause I still didn't get a reply from her (and you're talking with her in PM). I'd like to know that if she is upset with anyone on the board that she can still act as a moderator and separate that from the board crap. I don't KNOW that's what happened, yet, that is my take on it.

I think it's unrealistic to imagine the mods never get ticked at people. So long as it doesn't affect their mod duties, it shouldn't matter.

I'll admit that I had misgivings about Jersey Girl being a mod, but I haven't seen her do anything wrong so far.

Jersey Girl and I had a few short exchanges in PM this morning. She and I are fairly close friends, so this is not unusual. She expressed her concern about this particular thread, but was unable to respond on it because of work issues, so I have attempted to communicate her position.

Did she avoid responding to you because she was angry? I'm not really sure. She didn't discuss the specifics of the conversation with you.

However, her actions as a Mod were appropriate.

She was, as Shades expressed, "speaking as a man". She did not use her moderation powers in an inappropriate manner. She left that call up to Shades, which is exactly what I did on my thread.

I agree, I KNOW the mods get ticked off at people! :)

I also agree with you that as long as it doesn't interfere with their duties it's fine. I wasn't suggesting otherwise.

Liz, I'm not suggesting (nor do I think my comments read that way) that her comments to me on the board were in moderator mode. I was talking to Jersey Girl the spit-fire hellion that likes to tell me so often that I've stepped on her toes and I'm a smart alleck dummy. :)

My concern was there was no reply when I attempted contact with MOD Jersey Girl. I hope you know I am distinguishing between the two, and I hope my comments didn't read otherwise.

Also, I need to state, that this was all handled about 7 hours ago! I only brought it up in the thread out of concern that others might have seen bits and pieces and not know the entire story. Or that this thread was started because of what was seen on the board. I think the story is pretty simple -- and I think this thread should be derailed immediately! :)

Forgive me, but I think you may perhaps be asking too much. Many, MANY have been the time when I've read a PM but simply didn't have the psychic energy to respond to it until the next day or later. Happens all the time.

I rather think she can.

I don't KNOW that's what happened, yet, that is my take on it.

Nope, that didn't happen. She refrained from splitting the thread--or taking any other sort of moderatorial action--because she herself was involved in it.

Shades, I didn't say she split the thread. We talked about this hours ago. In my PM to you I was clear that I had asked her if she had split the thread. If she had replied I would have asked her to split her comment to me, as well. She didn't reply. I have NOT suggested HERE that she split that thread. Last night after my post was moved and I'd sent Jersey Girl a PM I asked on the board which mod had moved the posts.

I only related the story since it was brought up on the first page of this thread by you. I was concerned that others may have some vague knowledge -- and I KNOW how on this board a weeee bit of knowledge gets wrapped into a snowball of distortion rather quickly.

Just as we see above! :) I'm not stating that she split the thread! MY ONLY CONCERN last night was that she didn't reply to me about my attempt to contact her in MODERATOR MODE. You told me you'd discuss that with her, and I assume you have, or will.

I didn't start this thread, and I would NOT have related this story again if it hadn't been brought up here. I'd rather tell my own story than others prescribe one for me. :)

Edited to add: I've had probably over 200 PMs, in the past, with Jersey Girl and she's a quick one to reply, almost instantaneous -- last night struck me as odd. I don't KNOW why she didn't reply. I assumed she was still ticked at me.

Can someone derail this thread, please?

[MODERATOR NOTE: NO, do NOT derail threads for any reason.]

I'd be MUCH more concerned about GIMR being a mod than Jersey Girl considering a certain side of her personality she's exposed to me. But I trust this board more than others to moderate according to the rules no matter who is moderating.
