Heh. I just saw this over there, and then your comment here made my day complete. Charles makes perhaps the most absurd stretch in the history of Mormon apologetics, and you turn and call those who point it out intellectually vacuous. Chris is right: you can't make this stuff up.

Not only can you not make this stuff up, but when first confronted with it, you can't even believe they're serious.

I thought he was joking, but then on second thought, I've never known Charles to joke. That is one seriously huge stretch he's making.

I don't know how cdowis flys under the radar at MAD but he does. He is constantly saying stupid crap like this, and yet he never gets mentioned with the more high profile posters (like DCP, Pahoran, Juliann) and he isn't even considered Second Tier or Third Tier. Heck he doesn't even have a Mr. Scratch profile (that I'm aware of). How does he do that?

I think that's because no one takes him seriously. I just saw that Ron Beron has posted his support for Charles' Comoros theory. Unbelievable.

Oh jeez. Ron Beron is one of the better ones I think (thought!).

I'm curious as to what Arabic culture is in 1st and 2nd Nephi??

I choose not to engage Charles anymore. His arguments are soooo out there.

I'm curious as to why anyone would want to establish a supposedly Hebrew connection to Arabic culture?

I feel kinda bad for people when they get to the point of feeling they must defend the rediculous. Why does cdowis feel he needs to come up with a Moroni/Comoros theory? The more seasoned apologists wisely ignore this as coincidence.

Not only are his arguments out there, but he embeds the most unwarranted condescension within those posts I've ever seen. It's comical. "My dear fellow...."

Wasn't he the one recently arguing with you that the Maya didn't heavily utilize animal imagery in their art and mythology? LOL! You'd almost have to have a DEFICIT of knowledge about the ancient Maya to make such an argument. And then he wouldn't accept the examples given because they weren't from EXACTLY the Book of Mormon time period??? WTF???? As if the Maya heavily utilized animal imagery in every period BUT the Book of Mormon time period??? This guy has never made much sense. I view charles as along zak's lines, although less enamored of atlantis. :O
