If you see them talking about the chatroom, and didn't realize there was one, you're not in the clique.

If you see that everyone else is getting multiple PM's, and you never get one, you're not in the clique.

If you didn't realize this board even had moderators, you're not in the clique.

If they're all having virtual lunch together, know the names of each others' significant others, children and pets, and how many warts their co-workers have, you're not in the clique.

Signed, me--happy to be in clique limbo.
The road is beautiful, treacherous, and full of twists and turns.

Maybe all of us who are not in a clique can start our own? :-)

Oh wait I'm derailing AGAIN... Oops!

I'd better get on track ...

OK, so, umm, I love the mods, they are all fabulous, amazing, and totally wonderful!

Group hug everyone!

Hardly. My reasoning is that I knew I was in the minority.

I just wanted to see if I could drag 1/3 of the host of heaven with me into the mud. .

Good one:)

Actually, I was one of those who had initial misgivings--and since Merc brought it up and wasn't getting much support for his concerns, I figured I'd speak up. I think the reason I was concerned about Jersey Girl being a mod is that she's not the same temperament as Liz and Bond, who seem to have managed to remain above the fray and out of the spats that happen on boards. They are to be commended because I think that is no small feat--especially on this board.

I was also concerned about GIMR being a mod because she also strikes me as more like Jersey Girl and less like Liz or Bond. Maybe a little more likely to be involved than a passive bystander in arguments.

However, my assumption is that both Jersey Girl and GIMR were willing to moderate in an objective and impersonal manner, following Shades' guidelines. And I also think it's great that they would volunteer their services in this capacity--it's a big job! I think we as board members can help them be successful by monitoring ourselves and not adding to their responsibilities.

Thanks for the vote of confidence! However, as I'm sure they will attest, I have had major arguments on the board with the following posters: Bob Crockett, PP a.k.a. Boaz, Infymus, Scratch, and Marg. All of them have openly criticized my moderation skills at one point or another. At the moment, I believe that I have a "truce" with all of them, but the fact remains that I'm sure at least these individuals would not consider me even-tempered 100% of the time. LOL

I would consider you fair and impartial Liz.

Thanks, Sweetie! ;)

I try to be.

And, for what it's worth, I think that Jersey has done, and will continue to do, a great job in helping us moderate the board.

Wasn't Jersey Girl already a moderator? I thought she was. And wasn't she a moderator on FAIR under the name Lady Sundancer for a long time? I thought she was, anyway, so I'm comfortable with this person's long-standing status as a rules-broker.

Why is this even a topic of discussion?

Lady Sundancer was a mod at FAIR? I don't remember that. If she was, it was before my time.

Jersey Girl can be tempermental, but I will support anyone willing to be a mod. It's a thankless boring job so anyone willing to jump into it has my support. And of course Dr. SHades can always pull the plug if needs be (I just got done watching T2 so I have this image of Dr. Shades sticking one us moderators on a crane and lowering us into a vat of molten metal, destroying our CPUs and whatnot.)
