Why is the Church choosing this precise moment to undertake all of this doctrinal and scriptural revision? Was the Mitt Romney campaign a form of "cover," so that the Church could surreptitiously make all of these subtle changes to the Book of Mormon text? It's all very curious....
Denial C. Peterson has spoken:
For what it's worth, I've criticized some of them (several on this list) for many years.

I'm pleased by the changes.
Did horse get changed to tapir in any of those headings?

For someone who appears so loyal, it seems Daniel has been quite the complainer over the years. He also bragged about criticizing the "Principal ancestors" line in the intro.

Did these changes come into effect after Monsoon took over, or was this something that was green-lighted by the 1st Pres prior to Hink's death?

Hmm, that makes this state of affairs even more interesting than before.

Could this mean that there will be one Book of Mormon meant for public consumption but another Book of Mormon meant for members of the church?
"Finally, for your rather strange idea that miracles are somehow linked to the amount of gay sexual gratification that is taking place would require that primitive Christianity was launched by gay sex, would it not?"

I was talking to a missionary who didn't believe what I was saying regarding the oaths and changes in the temple. He accused me of "trying to contradict God". I said I wasn't and I am telling the truth and told him to seek knowledge from BYU scholars. I was saying if this is the true church and God is all knowing, then why would he have it so that such things change? Would he not start life as he intended to have it in the end? He said that the blessings and consequencies are still the same. I gave up.

These changes are huge. If I can get evidence that the book is authorised by the general authorities, I can use it.

Mormon 5 - New Heading
Because of their unbelief, the Lamanites will be scattered, and the Spirit will cease to strive with them

So once again, we were taught as Cult Mormon members these things. Every time I read the Book of Mormon (which was a total of 17 times), I knew that the Lamanites were dark, filthy and loathsome people - and that God cursed their skin to be blacks.

So now are we going to be called "crappy" members for not realizing that Joseph Smith actually got it WRONG, and that there never was a curse of BLACK skin - not really, it was all a misunderstanding. Sorry about that, please erase the last century of teachings and replace it with this new material.

Thank you.

Infymus, I think you might be right. I find it odd that most posters on MADb actually see nothing wrong with the changes. I wonder what the members over here in the UK will think.

The book was actually published in November. And the change in the introduction was discussed ageeez ago.

Does anyone know if there has been any type of official announcement regarding these changes? And, do these changes occur in all of the newly printed versions of the LDS Scriptures, or just the Doubleday published ones?

I'm intrigued, particularly since the old version still stands on the official Church website.
