Just correcting past internal mistakes within the story. No big deal. How could the most correct book be the most correct book if you left the mistakes in?

Hey, I couldn't find the official thing that I saw. It might have just been someones blog.
But in the front page it says:
Book of Mormon a readers edition, Grant Hardy wrote:...This book is not an official publication of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and beyond actual text of the Book of Mormon. The work is not indorsed, supported or sanctioned by the Church. ... Originally published: Salt Lake City, Utah: Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1920. With new intro.

I think you mean correcting the commentary added to the most correct book or were you all such 'crappy members' that you don't know which parts of the Book of Mormon claim to come from the plates and which don't?

I thought the GA's chose what went into the Book of Mormon whether it were originally on the plates or not, and thus leading up to the prophet. So is the headings are wrong then the prophet writing the headings were wrong and thus they cannot be prophets because God would say it was wrong and so ... well one can go on and on, but doesn't need to.

You might be right, except that there have been over 17,000 (or there abouts) changes to the book (from the plates) since its inception...as "the most correct book on earth." With "correctness" like this, who needs fiction?

Nehor, long time no see!
Some of the headings actually weer on the plates, but not the chapter headings as I recall. For example, it is my understanding that Nephi wrote:
An account of Lehi and his wife Sariah and his four sons, being called, (beginning at the eldest) Laman, Lemuel, Sam, and Nephi. The Lord warns Lehi to depart out of the land of Jerusalem, because he prophesieth unto the people concerning their iniquity and they seek to destroy his life. He taketh three days’ journey into the wilderness with his family. Nephi taketh his brethren and returneth to the land of Jerusalem after the record of the Jews. The account of their sufferings. They take the daughters of Ishmael to wife. They take their families and depart into the wilderness. Their sufferings and afflictions in the wilderness. The course of their travels. They come to the large waters. Nephi’s brethren rebel against him. He confoundeth them, and buildeth a ship. They call the name of the place Bountiful. They cross the large waters into the promised land, and so forth. This is according to the account of Nephi; or in other words, I, Nephi, wrote this record.
I could be mistaken though. It may simply be the case that Joseph Smith added some of these headers to the first printing of the Book of Mormon.
That's General Leo. He could be my friend if he weren't my enemy. eritis sicut dii I support NCMO

Has there been that many? I thought it was closer to 4,000. Or are you referring to changes that were done prior to the first pubishing?
???
Thanks,

I had heard the number 17,000 someplace (maybe it was before the first publication?)...but looked it up, and it looks like 3913. You're right Doc!
